Hello im heading to NYC for 2 weeks, ive hit hard times and need the most cost-effective way to have a place to stay and transportation when I need it to drive 350 miles to NC to see my friend. Im looking to buy a cheap SUV/van to live in for my stay and then sell at the end. I know that its pointless to have a vehicle in the city, I have no intent to use it for that.

I need to confirm logistics of doing so. Im aware of needing tags and auto insurance. From what ive read online insurance can be registered at my friends address. And I can obtain an in-transit tag permit as the current vehicle ive found is a private seller.

Can anyone offer advice?
