How we got MC cleared.

TLDR: Irritation/inflammation of the MC and extraction are the way. Full stop. Invest in a plasma pen.

Here is our journey with the beast that is Molluscum. My son who’s 9 had a teenie tiny spot on his navel for a long time, roughly 8 months. I thought it was MC but knew from my nephews experience that nothing really worked except time….or so I thought. They started to multiply and grow larger. The spread happened quickly. He got them on his stomach, under arm, inner thigh, groin area, penis and forehead 😩 On May 10 one randomly got infected with Staph. So I kicked into gear and got on Reddit. Through trial and error this is what I found.

  1. Clean towels every shower
    2.Paper towels for hand drying
  2. Antibacterial soap for regular hand washing. Squirt 91% alcohol on hands if you’ve scratched or touched them. I kept little spray bottles in my car, purse you name it.
  3. Showers only, wash body with chlorhexidine.
  4. Pimple patch until the lesion is red, puffy and irritated.
  5. Extract with needle or tweezers. After a shower is ideal. They get real big and plump after a shower and the skin is softer.
Extraction process: clean area with 91 alcohol. Clean your needle and tweezers with 91 alcohol, I kept a little dish with alcohol in it and dipped my extraction tools each time. I would pick the top of the lesion off and then stick the needle into the core and it would pop right out. Or I would burn the top with a plasma pen, cover for the night/day and extract following day. The skin on top of these things is super tough. Once the core is out it BLEEDS like crazy. Keep cotton pads close. Once his were out I used iodine to clean the would bc alcohol burns and it would wake him up. Let dry, cover with pimple patch or waterproof bandaid.
A few of his took multiple extractions bc I couldn’t go all in bc he was sleeping.
  6. Once you know it’s out and starting to heal use 41% zinc oxide cream (butt paste) on them, cover and leave covered for as long as possible. The ones I left covered with a waterproof bandaid and zinc literally fade so much faster than ones I didn’t.
  7. Once they start to heal well I left them uncovered.
  8. Every morning I took my phone light and turned it at a specific angle and I would do a full body check. This is how I caught any super tiny new ones early.

He developed some super small ones on his forehead. I was stresssssed. The penis was bad enough, but his forehead!! Lord help me. They were so small so I zapped them when he was sleeping with the plasma pen, iodine, covered with pimple patch. I did this three times. They never fully developed and disappeared within a few days. Never had to extract.

From extraction until healing was about 16 days. If I had zapped them with a plasma pen last year and covered them we wouldn’t have lived this total hell. It’s a real mind fuck because you’re so worried about spreading them to others, what people will think. We are both a little traumatized about the whole process. 😂☠️

Help with slider handles

I found this piece in the garbage. I’m trying to restore it for my home. I am a novice and don’t do this all the time. It didn’t have any doors for the two bigger openings. The previous doors were sliders. It has the small track at the top and bottom. I’ve cut replacement doors out of the thin maple panels you get at a big box store. Finger pulls are too thick for the panels I have and if I route out indented handles the panels are too thin. I’m not sure what to do for the handles. Has anyone seen a piece like this before. I’ve searched the internet/ebay high and low to no avail. The piece has zero branding or badging inside anywhere. Any inspo ideas? Thought about doing half circles at the very top of the sliders

Why do all of my toilets do this?

All three toilets in my house do this, they look wet in the tile joint. All bathrooms have been remodeled over a 5yr period. The toilet in the first photos I made my husband pull it off and make sure it’s not leaking and it doesn’t appear to be leaking. The toilet in the other photo is in a new bathroom that was finished a year ago. Is this common? It’s in the same joints in all three. Thanks for any input!

American Standard compressor failure x 2

I’ll start by saying I’m just a home owner. Looking for basic input on this horrible system we spent 18k on. We bought our house in 2015 and the unit was as old as methuselah, it finally quit in 2021. We were sold on this American Standard Platinum variable speed system because it was supposed to be more efficient and cut down on power. Starting in Dec of 2024 we started to have issues. The company that sold us the damn thing has all these techs come out and nobody seems to understand how to work on this thing, it’s like a space ship or something. For the record this is the second biggest hvac company in our town. Finally in Feb of 2025 it just stopped working. They had two separate techs come out and the more experienced tech said it was a bad compressor. They replaced under warranty but charged us $1500 to install it. It took a week to get part in and fix. Fast forward to this week and our a/c goes out. It’s throwing the same codes as Feb 2025, Err 177.04 and 184.08. I do a hard reset in a specific order according to chat gpt. Turn off thermostat, Flip breakers at the units, outside first, then handler. Wait 15mins and then turn back on in specific order. It hard resets and it cuts on briefly, doesn’t blow much and then turns off again. This time it’s throwing codes Err 176, 184.08 and 180.0. Call hvac company, they send out tech, he can’t figure it out with AS tech support so senior guy comes out and says it’s another bad compressor. Are these systems just shitty? We had one of the techs tell me they are terrible and a pain in the ass to work on. I know the codes are voltage type issues, we do have CONSTANT power flickers and outages in our town. Like all the time. It wasn’t an issue with the old Dino unit but could this new space ship be more sensitive? It has these voltage protector things on both handler and outdoor unit. I dunno. Really regretting spending so much money on this thing! And guess what?! It doesn’t save any money on our power bill, our bill went up when we got this thing and I swear it doesn’t cool as well. Any input appreciated. Sincerely one toasty lady.

Smelly fireplace and poor fire performance.

We’ve lived in our house for 10 years. We have a fireplace on our main level and one in the basement. It’s a double flue brick chimney. We used to have water drip in during heavy rains, we got that fixed with a new chimney cap and flashing. However the basement chimney really smells musty and I’m worried there is mold growing inside. It’s never used because it won’t pull air at all. Sometimes when we have a fire lit upstairs it will backdraft smoke into the basement. Our upstairs doesn’t pull great, we never can get a roaring fire. We do have a negative pressure situation I believe. Right now we’ve had a ton of rain and the humidity for the last two weeks has been pushing 75-80%. The upstairs fireplace reeks of smoke smell. It’s not as noticeable when it’s not humid. We have the chimney cleaned every spring by a chimney sweep but it doesn’t seem to help the smell. Is it an airflow issue? Does anyone have any experience with this? I’m thinking we need to install one of those fans that pulls air up? Is there a way to close off the basement one? Just have no idea what to do and we don’t have any chimney professionals in our area.

Day 13

Had stitches out yesterday. Pretty much back to doing most everything except some pulling motions. Did my first spin class since procedure today. Feeling good 🤘🏻

Day 5 from second release on left hand. Recovery has been good. Left hand def different than my right (dominant.) I had to take 3 Norco the day and night of surgery but none after. I didn’t have to take any with the right. Left hand had more bruising down into my forearm than right. Exercises were more difficult in the beginning but are now easy. Realized hospital sent me home with endoscopic discharge instructions instead of open release which I had. ☠️ which is why the getting wet instructions were different. I waited 5 days to get wet unlike the 3 they told me. Another mark against a hospital vs surgery center procedure.

Had my second surgery on my non dominant hand today. First surgery was at outpatient surgery center, today was at the hospital. Same surgeon. Def better experience at the surgery center. Was just down to a scheduling issue why it was at hospital. This hand is more uncomfortable afterwards than the first and the directions for post care are different than the surgery center. Feel like the way they wrapped it is causing more achiness. Hoping recovery won’t be too much different. 🤞🏻
