Austin, TX aerialists?

Hey there! I’m just getting back into lyra; I used to train for 9 years in the Detroit/Ann Arbor areas, then moved to Austin and couldn’t afford classes. It’s been 8 years but I’m finally getting back after an opportunity to take a class with Sky Candy. My problem is, I still can’t afford classes after this. I’d love to connect with other aerialists that might have their own rig, or know of practice groups who get together to train outside of a class structure. I’d be able to offer haircuts in return or something if anyone would want to take me up on something like that 😌 please let me know, I’m dying to continue training but just don’t know how I can make it work otherwise. I do have my own lyra also ✨

Additional fun info; when I lived in MI we had a weekly free community practice at a local martial arts gym. It was such a dream, and an amazing community. I would love to get something like that going again if there is a space or yard that could host something like that. Even if you don’t have a space or equipment please let me know and I can keep you posted if something develops.

Dying beeswax questions

Hi all! I currently use only natural beeswax to make hand dipped tapers, and pillars mostly. I want to start branching out into dying candles. Specifically I’d like to try black first. Is ivory or natural the best choice for something like this? Also should I get a separate melter for ivory wax, and have the other for natural only. Another dipping vat for dying candles? Or are they easy enough to clean for when I want to make natural, or ivory candles again? What is your favorite source for candle dye? I would prefer to use liquid. Anything else I should know? Thanks a bunch!

190 proof vs 200 proof

Oops, bought some SDA 40B from Lab Alley and when I got it, I realized it was 200 proof. Is the 200 proof still useful for perfumery or did I mess up? Are there any key differences in its function? I tried to search this subreddit but couldn’t find a lot of info, but I read 200 proof can evaporate to 190; should I just let it do that somehow? Thank you!

Learning scent profiles from dilutions

Hi! I’ve just placed my first order of raw materials and was curious about learning scent profiles with dilutions. If I am planning to make fragrances in both alcohol, and fractionated coconut oil; do I need to study the dilutions in both carriers? Or should they be neutral enough that it won’t really matter. Thank you!

Sugarcane alcohol?

Was taking a glance at heretic parfum and saw they blend their perfume in organic sugarcane alcohol. I searched through Reddit some and can’t find much info on it. Is it the same as perfumer’s alcohol, or different? Is there a benefit to using one or the other? What am I missing? Thanks!

Natural Perfume Academy Course

Has anyone taken the NPA course or other courses online and found them to be worth it? I am just learning about perfumery and want to make sure I’m prepared to have a good understanding of materials and methodology. I am familiar with Sam Macer, and reading about the Jean Carles method. I haven’t yet purchased any materials, as I’m still learning what is recommended to start. I’d like to stay in the natural realm for now, and potentially explore synthetics later on. Please no lectures about why I should use synthetics right off the rip, this is purely a personal preference. Thanks a bunch!
