Silks to Corde Lisse transition

So in the past, I've done Silks and Lyra hoop, and soon for a job, I'm going to need to learn Corde Lisse, which I've never done before. How much (if anything) will be transferrable from silks? I'm assuming footlocks remain the same - anything else? Any tips that might help with a smooth transition? Thanks so much in advance for any wisdom 🙏🏻

Studio has uncertified instructors on the schedule

I’m at a loss. My studio used to be so high quality, I fell in love with it & learned so much. However they lost a lot of instructors this year due to drama in the community. It all started with one girl who wasn’t advanced enough for level two, took it anyway & got hurt. She blamed the instructor (which I partially understand) & it started off a domino effect of instructors getting disgruntled or getting bullied & leaving.

Flash forward to now, I’m a pretty advanced aerialist & take the highest level, & I know for a fact that at least two of the newly hired instructors at the studio are below my level. I also know they are not certified because I’ve asked them. They’re kind people but they’re not good aerialists. They’re both certified in other fitness practices but not on the apparatuses they’re teaching now.

I’m on friendly terms with one of them & went to her class a couple of times to try to be supportive. The students were struggling so hard because they simply were not getting good guidance. I felt bad. But I think it’s a safety issue & I’m genuinely at a loss for what to do.

It’s so frustrating & unprofessional. They’re also rigging lyras with daisy chains & people have fallen before. I cannot stress enough how this is a respected studio that used to have really high level instructors. It’s baffling to me.

So yeah this is basically just me gossiping but idk what’s happening. Insanity.

Cirque Adventure

Heads up to all circus artists. Do not work for Cirque Adventure. They are scam artists. I recently had to file in court for thousands owed to me. Yes I had a contract and yes I have weeks of emails and excuses on why they can't pay me. I'm also not the first person it has happened too. Do not work for them. I am happy to share more details but I am in an open court case in the moment.

Got a really pretty yarn and made more circus acrobats

Working with yarn that changes colour gradually is just so satisfying and a lot more fun to see the different results unfolding!

Austin, TX aerialists?

Hey there! I’m just getting back into lyra; I used to train for 9 years in the Detroit/Ann Arbor areas, then moved to Austin and couldn’t afford classes. It’s been 8 years but I’m finally getting back after an opportunity to take a class with Sky Candy. My problem is, I still can’t afford classes after this. I’d love to connect with other aerialists that might have their own rig, or know of practice groups who get together to train outside of a class structure. I’d be able to offer haircuts in return or something if anyone would want to take me up on something like that 😌 please let me know, I’m dying to continue training but just don’t know how I can make it work otherwise. I do have my own lyra also ✨

Additional fun info; when I lived in MI we had a weekly free community practice at a local martial arts gym. It was such a dream, and an amazing community. I would love to get something like that going again if there is a space or yard that could host something like that. Even if you don’t have a space or equipment please let me know and I can keep you posted if something develops.

Two injuries at my studio within 3 months ... is this normal?

A girl broke her arm while being spotted on silks, and a month later another girl dislocated her elbow. I know all sports have risk, especially aerial ... but at what point do you start to question the safety practices of the studio?

Do those recovery devices actually work?

Been seeing red light therapy pop up everywhere lately lol, mostly for recovery. Ngl im kinda curious, but idk if it's actually any good or just another trend.

I do aerials and some strength training, so recovery matters to me..has anyone here used one at home for a while? Did you notice any difference with soreness or recovery, or is it more of a "maybe??" thing lol,,just tryna figure out if it's worth getting or if I should just stick with sleep, food, and stretching haha.

any advice for securing informal pole performing gigs as someone wanting to build a portfolio?

For context, I have performed 5/6 times (2 of those in a proper venue setting with large ish crowds) when I was part of my pole society during uni. I absolutely love performing and now that I'm not a student, I'm feeling motivated to try and gain more performing opportunities. I'm not a huge fan of competing (but I'm definitely not ruling it out), so advice more about how to reach out or the best kinds of events to look for would be really helpful.

I also don't have a public pole account, I have one that I barely post on, but I'm open to advice if people recommend using social media to boost your chances!

Thanks so much for your help!

Silk Hammock Summer Class #3 July 1st, 2026

Tonight was Silk Hammock Summer Class #3, and I practiced the Cross-Back Straddle and the Double Teddy Bear to Christmas Tree.
Every class reminds me that growth isn’t about perfection—it’s about showing up, trusting the process, and celebrating the small victories.
A year ago, I never imagined I’d be hanging upside down with a smile. Now I’m learning that courage isn’t the absence of fear… it’s choosing to climb anyway.
Here’s to getting stronger, more flexible, and more confident—one wrap, one inversion, one class at a time.
It’s never too late to discover a part of yourself you didn’t know existed. 💙

Any good aerial gyms in Sandy Springs / Atlanta area?

My cousin’s 13yo daughter took a silks class with me when they were in town visiting, and she wants to start taking classes back home. I did some research a while back and came across North Georgia Aerials, but it’s hard to tell just by looking at a website and social media posts only. Anyone have any recs?

Aerial rig for trapeze

I'm looking into aerial rigs - it would be an outdoor setup bc my trapeze has 10 foot ropes. I will be doing drops on it.

What would y'all recommend?

NOTE: I've been training and teaching aerials since 2017, with trap being the main apparatus I train on.

tried lyra for the first time and my thighs are screaming

i finally did it. went to my first aerial hoop class last night and i'm honestly not sure if i'm in love or if my body is just straight up mad at me lol. probably both.

the moves were so beautiful and i felt like a complete clumsy idiot for most of it but also i can't stop thinking about it. like i wanna go back immediately but also i can barely walk today.

i knew it would hurt but nobody warned me about the specific kind of pain?? it's like a mix of bruises and muscle soreness and something else i can't even describe.

was talking to one of the regulars after class and she mentioned i should try different leggings cause the ones i wore were too slippery.

any other beginners here? how long before the pain stops being so intense? i'm not quitting but i'd love to know there's light at the end of the tunnel lol

Aerial silks and aerial hoop (lyra) classes near Lansing?

Anyone know of any aerial silks and / or aerial hoop classes in the East Lansing / Lansing area, or any facilities that might be interested in starting classes?

Daughter is headed to MSU this fall and has been doing ailks and hoops for over a year and really enjoyed it. She’d love to continue but a quick search online didn’t come up with anything in the immediate area.

I’m in love with flying pole

I’ve been stage pole dancing for a few years and have recently found flying pole! This was my first flying pole performance for pride and it was so much fun. I will always love my stage pole but I’m excited to go deeper into the fly pole world :)

Lyra + Clowning

I do clowning and juggling, and am experimenting with ways to add physical comedy to my lyra routines. Any ideas for silly/funny moves to add in?
