The Evercade Nexus is just over two months away ! Have you pre-ordered one ? Which version did you go for, and most importantly, which cartridge are you going to put in it first ?

I went for the standard edition, and I’m not going to be very original here... DOOM will almost certainly be the first cartridge going straight into my Nexus 😅🔥.

What about you ?

Would you like to see more Evercade cartridges in 2027?

This year, we’re getting 12 cartridges. Personally, I feel like that’s a bit low.

Since I don’t buy every release and only pick up the cartridges that genuinely interest me, I sometimes find the long gaps between new releases a bit frustrating.

On the other hand, I try to look at the positive side: it’s better for my wallet 😅, and it gives me more time to actually enjoy the cartridges I already own.

Still, I definitely wouldn’t say no to a few more releases in 2027. I feel like around **18 cartridges** could be a really good number, enough to have more regular releases without becoming overwhelming.

What do you think? Are you like me and would like to see more cartridges next year, or do you think 12 is already a good amount? 😊

What’s your biggest achievement on Evercade? 💪

For the hardcore players out there, now’s your chance to show off a little 💪.

I’d love to know what your proudest achievement on Evercade has been so far. Finishing a particularly difficult game? Getting a 1CC? Reaching a specific level or score?

And don’t be shy, there’s no such thing as a small achievement here. Everyone has their own skill level and puts a different amount of time into gaming 😊.

Also, what would be your ultimate Evercade achievement? That one challenge you’d really love to complete someday?

As for me, nothing too extraordinary. I could tell you that I once managed to beat Master’s Fury... But to avoid being judged for how much time I actually spent on this game 😅, I’ll go with the only 1CC I’ve managed on Evercade so far: KOF 2000 on MVS difficulty. Although its boss is definitely more manageable than Orochi or Rugal.

My ultimate achievement would probably be getting a 1CC on Art of Fighting 2 someday(yes, I know... I enjoy making myself suffer 😢).

And when DOOM arrives, I’m going to try to beat the games on ultra violence.

So, what about you? What’s your proudest Evercade achievement, and what’s the one challenge you’d love to conquer someday? 💪

What genre(s) would you like to see more of on Evercade ?

Hi everyone!

I know a lot of people feel that some genres are still underrepresented on Evercade, so I was wondering: which ones would you like to see more of in 2027?

When I joined the platform in 2024, I felt there really wasn’t much in the way of fighting games, so I had to make do with Master’s Fury... yes, I know 😅.

With the Neo Geo collections, I’m more than happy on that front now. But there are still some genres that feel a bit lacking, especially RPGs and survival horror.

As an FPS enthusiast, I’m really happy that DOOM is coming, and I hope we’ll see more games in that genre next year.

What about you? Which genre would you like to see more of on Evercade in 2027?

Has Evercade become your main gaming platform?

Today, Evercade has become my main gaming platform and pretty much the only one I have left 😅.

Modern gaming hasn't really interested me for several years now. And even though I find the current state of the industry a bit depressing, I have to admit that I mostly watch it all from a distance these days.

I now play almost exclusively on Evercade, with the occasional indie game on PC. I simply don't have the time or the desire anymore to invest myself in games that are too long or demanding.

What I've rediscovered with retro games is that feeling of immediate fun. No need for a two-hour tutorial to learn dozens of mechanics you pick up the controller or arcade stick and you play.

Lately, I've been watching some DOOM gameplay, and damn... the music, the gameplay, the atmosphere. I completely understand why people are still playing it and creating new content for it more than 30 years later. No unnecessary fluff, it's simple and incredibly effective.

I know a lot of this comes down to my current mindset and personal situation. But with the limited gaming time I have, these are the kinds of games I want to spend it on.

What about you? Has Evercade become your main gaming platform too? Do you feel the same way, or am I just becoming a grumpy old gamer? 😅

What brought you to Evercade?

Hi everyone! I was curious to know what made you get into the Evercade ecosystem. Which cartridge (or cartridges) convinced you to take the plunge, and what hardware did you start with?

For me, after getting a bit tired of modern gaming, I wanted to get into retro games. After trying various homemade solutions that weren't always entirely legal 😅, the idea of owning real, officially licensed cartridges, complete with a box and full-color manual, really appealed to me. It also helped me escape the choice paralysis of having thousands of ROMs available at once.

Then Toaplan Arcade 3 was announced with Batsugun which, to this day, is still the best shmup available on Evercade in my opinion and that finally convinced me to take the plunge. I bought a VS-R with Tomb Raider with 2 carts (Jaleco arcade 1 and Asteborg) and joined the Evercade ecosystem.

Today, I'm fully invested in it (maybe a little too much 😅), and I've never regretted it 👌.

What about you? What brought you to Evercade?

Do I really need an AES+ when I already have Evercade?

I pre-ordered the Evercade Nexus and will probably skip the AES+. The closer the AES+ gets to release, the more I wonder whether I really need one.

The AES+ genuinely appeals to me, but I’m not really a collector. I just want to play retro games legally, affordably, and on physical media.

I’ve been in the Evercade ecosystem for about two years now, and it suits me really well. It already offers Neo Geo games emulated, yes, but honestly, I’m fine with that. I’m having fun, and that’s what matters most to me.

For the price of one AES+ cartridge, I can play around 20 Neo Geo games on Evercade. And beyond Neo Geo, there’s a huge variety of games. With native ports of DOOM and Banjo-Kazooie coming, and the prospect of being able to play them anywhere on my future Nexus, it only reinforces my choice.

The AES+ still looks really cool, but for me I feel it would be more about owning it and admiring the cartridges than actually playing it regularly.

My space and gaming time are limited, so I think I’ll stay reasonable and stick with Evercade.

Do any of you feel the same, or completely disagree?

PS: This is just my personal feeling, so please keep it respectful it’s only video games after all 😉

What are your top 5 native ports you’d love to see on Evercade?

With upcoming native ports of games like Banjo-Kazooie and DOOM expanding the possibilities for Evercade going forward, what would be your top 5 native ports you’d love to see come to the system ?

For me, I think I’d go with:

Duke Nukem 3D

Diablo

Quake

Blazing Chrome / Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider

Blood

There are honestly so many possibilities now. What would your top 5 be ?

How would you rank the DOOM campaigns included on the upcoming Evercade cartridge?

Having never really had the chance to properly play DOOM 1 and 2 (I played a lot more Duke Nukem 3D back in the day), I’m curious to know how you would rank the campaigns included on the upcoming Evercade cartridge.

Also, is there a recommended order to play them in? I know Plutonia has a reputation for being very difficult.

Either way, I’m really looking forward to experiencing these games on Evercade👌.

What do you think the final two Evercade cartridges of 2026 will be? 👀

We’re getting closer to the end of the 2026 roadmap, with two final cartridges still to come in December.

So, what are your predictions and more importantly, what would you personally love to see?

Personally, I’d love to see something like Terminator 2D No Fate and a Neo Geo collection 5 (we had just only one this year).

EverSync on the Alpha could have been a great feature and a reason to buy two

With the upcoming release of the Nexus and the introduction of its EverSync feature, which lets multiple people play together on different devices using just one cartridge, I was wondering why they didn’t include it on the Alpha.

I think it would have been amazing, and an extra reason to buy a second one.

Just imagine playing King of Fighters in versus mode or Blazing Star in coop from a Neo Geo cartridge, with two Alpha bartop side by side or facing each other. That would have been absolutely awesome.

It feels like a real missed opportunity, in my opinion. Maybe someone has already brought this up before...

What do you think? Would you have liked to see EverSync on the Evercade Alpha?

Printemps 2027 — Collection Heretic + Hexen

  • Heretic

  • Shadow of the Serpent Riders

  • Hexen

  • Deathkings of the Dark Citadel

Printemps 2028 — Collection id Software

  • Wolfenstein 3D + Spear of Destiny

Automne 2028 — DOOM Collection 2

  • DOOM 64 + The Lost Levels

  • Legacy of Rust

2027 : Heretic/Hexen → Quake I + II

2028 : Wolfenstein/Commander Keen → DOOM Collection 2

My id Software Evercade roadmap for 2027–2028 — realistic or way too optimistic? 👀

With The DOOM Collection showing what Evercade can do with native ports of classic PC games, I've been thinking about what my ideal id Software focused roadmap could look like over the next couple of years.

To be clear, this is only my wishlist for id Software-related releases, not a prediction for Evercade's entire roadmap.

And in this scenario, every game listed below would be a native Evercade port rather than an emulated version, taking advantage of the hardware with proper controller support, widescreen where appropriate, 60fps where possible, and other quality-of-life improvements.

Spring 2027 — Heretic + Hexen Collection

- Heretic

- Shadow of the Serpent Riders

- Hexen

- Deathkings of the Dark Citadel

- Potentially some of the newer content as well

A native Heretic/Hexen cartridge feels like a natural follow-up to DOOM while offering a completely different dark-fantasy atmosphere.

Autumn 2027 — Quake Collection

- Quake + expansions

- Quake II + expansions

Both fully native on Evercade, ideally with widescreen, 60fps and proper modern controller support.

For me, this would be the perfect major Christmas release for 2027. Quake I + II on one cartridge could be a huge showcase for Evercade and the kind of major licence that could also help sell hardware during the holiday season.

Spring 2028 — id Software Collection

- Wolfenstein 3D + Spear of Destiny

- Commander Keen 1–5

Again, all running natively on Evercade and ideally receiving a remaster treatment similar in spirit to Duke Nukem 1 + 2 Remastered.

Wolfenstein would be the headline name, while Commander Keen would add variety and enough additional content to make the cartridge feel really substantial.

Autumn 2028 — The DOOM Collection 2

- DOOM 64 + The Lost Levels

- Legacy of Rust

- A selection of major classic/community campaigns such as Back to Saturn X, Deathless, Tetanus, DOOM Zero, etc.

Once again, the idea would be native versions throughout.

DOOM 64 would be the main attraction, while Legacy of Rust and some of the best modern classic-DOOM campaigns could make this second collection generous enough to stand alongside the first one.

So my dream id Software-focused Evercade roadmap would basically be:

2027: Heretic/Hexen → Quake I + II

2028: Wolfenstein/Commander Keen → DOOM Collection 2

Obviously, this is just my personal wishlist and isn't based on any rumours or insider information. 😅

But now that Evercade is increasingly showing what it can do with native ports instead of relying exclusively on emulation, releases like these don't feel completely crazy to me anymore.

What do you think? Is a native-port roadmap like this technically and commercially realistic for Evercade?

And more importantly: would these cartridges get you excited enough to buy them? What would you change or add?
