Wimbledon viewing

Hi there! I’ll be in Palermo next weekend during the Wimbledon finals - are there any bars that usually air the matches?

Secure parking in Kalsa (paid is okay)

Hi r/palermo_city !

I'll be visiting Palermo from July 11-16, staying in Kalsa near Villa Giulia. Our Airbnb host recommended parking in Piazza della Kalsa, but I imagine it'll be packed mid-summer, especially around the Festino di Santa Rosalia.

We're willing to pay for parking if there is a garage nearby that's secure and hassle-free. We're going to avoid driving in the city, but want to have a car so that day trips and beach outings are manageable.

Open to any suggestions, appreciate the time and input!

Palermo before or during Santa Rosalia Festival?

Hi all,

My partner and I are visiting Sicily from July 5-16, flying into Catania and out of Palermo. We can't wait to see Palermo but are wondering if it's better to go for a few nights before the Festival of Santa Rosalia (July 15/16) and then decamp somewhere quieter but still near the airport for our last two nights?

We're a young couple and usually love a vibrant city with nightlife, but can't tell what the vibe of the festival will be. If it's mostly for families/young kids or just full of general chaos, we'd rather be elsewhere for those two days... but open to attending if others say it's a must.

Relatedly, we're all ears for suggestions on where else to stay in the Palermo region, potentially as far west as Trapani. We love good beaches, architecture, food and places to get a nightcap. We're also gay travelers if that helps.

Thanks in advance for any tips, much appreciated!

Sicily in July - where to stay in the north/northwest?

Hi all,

My partner and I are headed to Sicily July 5-16. We're aware it's peak season and will be scorching hot, but he works at a university so that's the easiest time to take off.

We're spending the first 5 nights in Siracusa/Ortigia, but feel open-minded about where to spend the rest. We don't need nightlife per se but aren't looking for anything dead quiet either. Would love great beaches, architecture, food and hopefully a place or two for a nightcap after dinner. We're also gay travelers if that helps.

Obviously we're drawn to Palermo (and our flight home on the 16th is out of PMO), but the Festival of Santa Rosalia is taking place on those last two days. Will this make Palermo too crowded to enjoy, in addition to the heat? We're considering staying somewhere seaside instead like Scopello, San Vito lo Capo, or Cefalú on the other side - curious for recommendations. Also open to splitting this up with a few nights in Palermo and a few nights elsewhere.

We haven't been considering Agrigento as seriously since the ruins sound brutal in the heat, and it adds a lot of driving time if we need to eventually land near Palermo for our flight home.

Thanks for any tips, much appreciated!
