My hand made guitar was based on a Yamaha body because it looked better than a strat.
I am very happy to see Yamaha guitars put up next to strats. Leo's design was based on other makers, so the fact that the Pacifica is basically a remodeled strat doesn't bother me at all. This one piece guitar I made for myself 30 years ago is basically a Yamaha body with the bottom horn shorter and the head reduced to a minimalist design.
