Bose is really pairing down their network speaker options and that’s not so bad.

With the latest release of the Lifestyle series I feel comfortable stating that Bose is trimming down their network server options with a purpose in mind. Bose has scrapped offering using music services like Deezer, Quobuz Tunein and alike that they have to pay for. Bose took down the music services from SoundTouch speakers. I predict we will see the same with the Bose Home speakers sooner than later. Bose has really trimmed their product offerings and features. The SoundTouch 30’s for example had ethernet connection, manual internet addressing for music services and radio stations. Now it seems the speakers are only good for using Airplay and Bluetooth to play music. I get that.

I remember how cool AirPlay was when if first came out. I had an Airport Express connected to a stereo receiver in my living room. I used my iMac as a music server, running iTunes over Airplay. Currently I am holding at six Bose Home 500 speakers around the house. There are a variety of music apps that I can use with Airplay and the Home 500 speakers. I generally choose Apple Music and my phone as the controller. My wife does the same, she seems happy with that.

I was quite concerned Bose was going to disappear from the market but they continue to offer a good line of WiFi and Bluetooth products and speakers albeit small in stature.
