Is face serum not for everyone?

So i'm not used to apply all the skincare stuff, i get applied common family moisturizer from a young age. As the skincare trend boosted...it caught my eye.

few years ago, I decided to usual basic skin care: face wash -> moisturizer -> sunscreen. Also got names like toner, serum. Got some knowledge about tanning, healthy skin, fake skin care blah blah blah.

I decided to use serum as my face has good chance of improvement, i got minimalist salicylic acid serum and derma co niacinamide serum as i have oily skin with acne and black heads and white heads.

but it felt very weird for few days its like i could feel serum on my face & felt uncomfortable, i washed it off fully then just applied moisturizer.

then i never used serum.

I only use face wash then moisturizer then sunscreen, it has greatly helped me but i want that clear smooth skin .

Might be my application method was wrong? or these brands are not suitable for me? or my skin is sensitive ? , like a fear type of thing has occur that it appears like a plastic film on face...What should i do?

(should've shown skin but not comfortable in that)
