I'm trying to improve my use of colours in gouache (and other materials) and that was a study.
I liked very much this painting, loved the colours but think that the values are poor... and don't know how to correct that.

I used a charcoal pencil about a 4 years ago and didn't liked it. But after I joined this sub I wanted to give it a another chance, so made this drawing.
That was my first attempt making a big piece with charcoal. I made a anime drawing with that pencil some years ago, and never touched it until see some videos about charcoal drawings.

So decided to give another chance. Do you have some advice to me?
I saw a style online and loved it, asked for help on the sub of gouache painting and learned some things about. So today decided to try something and painted this watercolor

I saw that paintings online and doesn't have any idea about how use colors like that. Anyone has any tips for me? Or what the name of paintings like this?
I mean, how turn a normal photo in a painting like those two. It's so cute and beautiful, almost magic
