#2 Guy trying to survive in Trivandrum. Trivandrum cultural shock: Why does everything close at 9 PM
Hey everyone, update from the tourist Malayali who recently moved here from Pune. I’m slowly surviving.
My current biggest challenge isn't navigating the roads anymore—it's adjusting to the timeline. In Pune, life starts at 10 PM. Here, if I walk outside at 9:30 PM, the streets look like a post-apocalyptic movie where everyone safely went to bed after a heavy meal.
Also, my Mallu vocabulary is currently 90% bookish and 10% panicking. I need a crew to teach me actual local slang so I stop sounding like a news anchor when I ask for directions.Still got the car, still haven't crashed it, and still looking for normal people (again, no serial killers) to grab coffee, explore some hidden food spots, or just explain to me why the auto drivers here look at me like I insulted their ancestors when I ask to go by meter. Guy trying to survive in Trivandrum (Yes, I am a Malayali, no, I don't know where the beach is).
Hey everyone! I just moved to Trivandrum for work and I am currently in that awkward phase of trying to navigate life here.
A quick background check on me: I just arrived from Pune, but I am actually a Malayali. This means I have the theoretical knowledge of the culture, but the practical navigation skills of a tourist.
I’m looking to build a fun circle here, grab some coffee, explore the city, or just complain about traffic.
I also come with a major bonus feature: I have a car and I actually know how to drive it.

I am planning a spontaneous late-night drive from Magarpatta to Bopdev Ghat in a bit. I have officially reached peak vellepanti. Insta scroll kar kar ke thumb dukh raha hai, random satisfying videos dekh chuka hu, and staring at my screen is giving me a mid-life crisis. If I stay home any longer, I might actually end up cleaning my room or doing something productive, and honestly, nobody wants that.

Din bhar ki garmi aur office screen dekh kar dimaag fry ho chuka hai. Shaam hote hi I am planning to escape this concrete jungle. Direct plan hai—sunset ke baad Bopdev hills waale stretch par nikalna hai for some killer city views, cold breeze, and peace.
The Pickup Scene:
Shaam ko Magarpatta City se nikal raha hoon. If you are anywhere in Magarpatta, Hadapsar, Amanora, or Wanawadi, batao—raste se utha loonga!
Shaam ki thandi hawa 🌬️ -> Hilltop par baith ke city lights dekhna 🌌 -> ☕ -> Drive back before it gets too late. No complicated plans, bas dimaag ko shaant karna hai.Car ready hai and 3 seats khali hain. Agar shaam ko ghar pe bore ho rahe ho, toh aajaao!
Basic Rules:
Serial killers aur kaleshi log door rahein. Chill and normal crowd preferred. 😂

Corporate life aur Pune traffic ko mil kar gaali dene ka poora adhikaar milega.
