why not in accusative?
or do proper nouns not get conjugated to show accusative?

i visited hawaii on a family trip a while ago and, since i’m a linguist and love to study language, culture, and people, i was wanting to learn those of hawaii.
after learning some basics of the hawaiian language, culture, and history, i was told by a couple of kind-hearted natives locals* that not alot of hawaiians will appreciate the fact that an outsider wanted to learn their culture. that infact most would not be pleased of it.
i dont understand this, as i’ve always been under the impression that it was rude to *not* learn the language of a country or local region that you’re currently in.
if anything, i believe spreading culture is beneficial to keep said culture alive.
if there are any hawaiians reading this who do not like people learning their language and culture, can you please explain why?
edit: *corrected the usage of the word “natives” to “locals.” the word ‘natives’ gives a connotation of colonialism
