For anyone who has gotten a repair from FotoTech, any tips on how to ship?

Hi y’all! I wanted to reach out to those who have gotten repairs from FotoTech. Realize they are definitely the best choice in who can help me repair a broken Yashica T4 and a broken Fuji GA645zi.

My question is, how would you go about shipping to them? I’ve heard a few things in looking through this Reddit about them hence why I’m making this post lol.

I’ve heard:
- Best Option is to go through USPS
- Eat the cost of shipping through USPS since it’s my best bet.
- Make sure to follow their website’s regulations (no batteries, no lenses, bubble wrapped package)
- Make sure to send to the right location.
- Try to get package insurance outside of USPS.

I’ve had a big box with my Fuji packed and ready to send with a form from their website, but to be honest, I’ve been nervous to send it these last few months. I understand it’s going to be expensive to send (the last estimate I got from USPS was about $500-600), but I’m trying to avoid the package being stuck in customs or any other issues that might arise.

Would anyone recommend shipping both cameras in a single box to make it cheaper or would it best to test the waters and just send one camera?

Also, how important is insurance outside of USPS? Any recs?

TL:DR: How should I ideally package a camera to be sent to Fototech to avoid any issues with customs & be as cheap as possible?
