Special appearances seen through the movie

Several crew members from “Titanic” can be seen through the movie. Here is Deborah Lynn Scott (the film’s costume designer) as a first class passenger holding a red fan that is now part of my collection. It was recently on display at the “Titanic & Fashion” exhibition - which presented 15 original costumes worn in the movie, including 2 from my own collection.

Second picture I’m holding the fan during a behind the scenes moment from the exhibition, once more surrounded by the movie costumes that Deborah Scott designed for “Titanic”.

From my collection, some of Rose’s photos and frames I was able to identify and collect through the years. Together with a bell, probably taken as memento from one of Rose’s adventures…

Pictured alongside the post, behind the scenes imagery that offers a glimpse on the process of creating them for the film. Called “composites”, they were made by graphic designer Eric Rosenberg.

Whenever I see these, I get myself reflecting about all those who did not get the opportunity to arrive safely in New York, where many would start a new life and perhaps create new beautiful memories, just like (fictional) survivor Rose in the movie.

If you survive the sinking of the Titanic, you can survive anything…

From my collection, here is a blanket and life jacket used in the movie, that I was able to display together at the “Titanic & Fashion” exhibition that happened recently here in The Netherlands. And to think that Rose kept the necklace the entire time… 💙

As I continue to share some photographs from my archives of “Titanic”, here we see some behind the scenes of a deleted scene that was filmed partially on the big set, partially in studio. “Come Josephine in my flying machine…”

Happy to be contributing here by sharing some photographs from my archives. These taken during filming of Rose’s intense moments aboard the sinking ship… “Now take me down! E deck!”

A photograph from my archives, taken during filming from one of Rose’s most dramatic moments. Sadly deleted in post production…

“The Heart of the Ocean” certainly is one of the most iconic pieces of jewelry ever created for a film. This J. Peterman version from my collection was recently presented together with the original kimono worn by Kate Winslet, on display as part of the “Titanic & Fashion” exhibition at the Kunstmuseum in The Netherlands. Fifteen costumes from the movie were brought together in a remarkable display of cinema and fashion history.
