Kate didn’t deserve any of this

She was and still is absolutely gorgeous! I’m captivated by her authenticity and beauty, inside and out.

I love this shot.

Not only because the final line of the hymn foreshadows what's going to happen that night, but Kate Winslet beautifully captures Rose feeling more trapped than ever before.

Adding the missing port side B and C deck

Here we are again, providing you with yet another fix! There are several shots in the movie which show the steel structure holding up the never covered port side of the set, however, none of them are more egregious than this one. The entire side of the ship is shown openly and even the much darker 35mm coloring we are using doesn’t fix it, as there should be windows visible there. So we took it upon ourselves to digitally generate a window overlay using Project 401 by TitanicHG, which we could later motion track to the scene, to hide the steel support structure. It’s lucky that we are using 35mm lighting, that saves us a lot of work as we only have to make the actual hull a black overlay, without any textures or details. There’s also the tiny factor of an A Deck window missing, but that, luckily, is much more easily remedied than the missing hull. And that’s just two more fixes from a list of over 170.

Bill Paxton as Brock Lovett is an underrated hottie 🔥

I know the discourse is always between Jack Dawson & Cal Hockley, but I think Brock Lovett deserves more love. I find myself now swooning over him too when I rewatch the movie! God, Bill Paxton was fiiine. Any other women (even men) think the same these days? Or is he more an acquired taste? I’ve loved him since Twister! 🌪️

To Making It Count

Rose did everything she and Jack dreamed of: fishing, flying a plane, riding horses “like a man,” and even roller coasters. Each picture near her bedside at the end of the film is a silent tribute to the life she embraced, honoring the promise she made to Jack. If you think about it, Rose lived one of the most incredible lives you could live. She damn well made sure his sacrifice wasn’t in vain.

Note: Slide 2 and 3 are from this deleted scene.

Deleted scene with Jack and Lovejoy fight

Fight starts at 3:27. I can see why they deleted this one as it kind of drags on, but I enjoyed this anyways. It also explains Lovejoys cut when the ship is splitting in half. Thoughts?

Other deleted scenes I've added are here and here,

Edit: I've just found out his characters full name was Spicer Lovejoy, ok😭, oh also, I kept the boy crying at the end to show what scene would've followed had it been kept in, also kept the beginning in to show the cut they did

I wish they had kept this scene in the movie

I love this scene, I managed to find an edition with some of the deleted scenes in it (including this, runs for 3hrs 45 mins lol) and I think this scene adds a lot, I really wish they had kept it in!

Edit: thank you for the award anon 😊

Extended boiler room scene with kiss, just before the car scene

Just before the car scene we had this but they cut the kiss & neck kissing out and I love it! I shared a scene earlier (the one with Rose going down to steerage to see Jack, here) I wished they hadn't cut and now I'm sharing this as I love it, I don't think this deserved to be cut either. I wanted to share with those who may have not seen it.

Titanic remastered on 4K is incredibly beautiful and still remains of my favourites to this this very day

Everything just looks so clean! Even the warm colour grading by Russel Carpenter is more noticeable and we really feel the luxury and opulence of what First Class may have felt and experienced back in the day. Watching the movie just feels way more immersive now. We’re so spoiled as Titanic fanatics and I can’t complain for a single second. Titanic is a movie built for the big screen! It’s the only way you should experience it, but with our advancement in technology, we luckily can relive it all over again at home. Anyways I was watching it yesterday on Paramount+ and I was just in love with the finer details I never really noticed before because of this remaster! 😍

She just wanted the necklace to take away an uncomfortable past, a past that took away the love of her life.

What if Jack was never just a romantic character? Capable represented the freedom that Rose needed to escape from the life she hated.

She literally appears when she wants to die, shows her another way of living and after losing him... Rose becomes the woman she always wanted to be.

Alternate films from cut footage, and what could have been

I always think about this so wanted to kick it to this sub!

Deleted scenes from this movie are so rich. They always make me wonder about the movie we got, an all-out classic that captured the moment and had such immense staying power, and the (at least 2 movies) that Titanic could easily have ended up as instead:

  1. A straight-up period piece: Titanic minus the present-day finding Titanic plotline, and instead included all the deleted scenes that further flesh out the characters and romance (Rose visits 3rd class, Rose’s panic attack, the death of Cora, etc). A movie I feel would have been superb but far more niche, and not blown up or been remembered in the same way.

  2. Core focus on the outside “finding the Titanic” plot, where the alternate filmed ending is used (present-day Rose is discovered with the heart of the ocean and throws it into the sea in front of the ship crew and her granddaughter, forcing them all to process that it’s gone rather than missing, and the discovery ship captain has a romance with her granddaughter). A movie that would have been truly just ok, with a total blunder ending that was only cut by the grace of test audiences hating it.

I think about this way too much, because when you watch deleted scenes you really realize how miraculous the movie we got was. And I wish these alternate cuts existed too.

Anyone else have thoughts on this, or a favorite deleted scene?

Did anyone else notice that Ruth says "new money" at the same time Old Rose does?

Special appearances seen through the movie

Several crew members from “Titanic” can be seen through the movie. Here is Deborah Lynn Scott (the film’s costume designer) as a first class passenger holding a red fan that is now part of my collection. It was recently on display at the “Titanic & Fashion” exhibition - which presented 15 original costumes worn in the movie, including 2 from my own collection.

Second picture I’m holding the fan during a behind the scenes moment from the exhibition, once more surrounded by the movie costumes that Deborah Scott designed for “Titanic”.
