I miss when teen dramas really knew how to sell a couple through their promotional material. A single image like this made the relationship feel huge—romantic, dramatic, iconic—and it built excitement for the story before you even watched the episode.
The O.C. did it so well with Ryan and Marissa: the black-and-white close-up, “Don’t Miss the First Kiss,” and the whole campaign making their relationship feel like the central event of the show. Dawson’s Creek did the same thing with its couples too—those glossy, emotionally charged promotional images made every romantic shift feel major.
It feels like networks used to understand that a central romance could be marketed almost like a movie event. Do newer shows still make promotional images like this for their couples, or has social media replaced that kind of iconic campaign?
I vividly remember having this one in my locker—I’m positive I did. I also remember having a poster or photo of Ryan holding Marissa’s face in his hands, which I think was from the Season 1 episode where they officially got together. I’ve been trying to find a high-quality still of it to post, but no luck yet.
And, of course, I had so many cast photos cut out from magazines and plastered everywhere—my locker, binders, bedroom walls… probably anything with an empty surface. 😂

I don’t usually post photos of myself on a big online forum like Reddit, but I’m genuinely curious what you think. I’ve gone lighter with the reds before, but I feel like this deeper burgundy suits me more.
Also, a question: does anyone know of an unscented shampoo and conditioner that will help retain burgundy colour? I live with my aunt, and she’s extremely sensitive to fragrances, so it’s been hard to maintain the colour for longer.

I vividly remember being in the living room sometime around 2003 or 2004. I was 13 at the time when I caught the TV spot for “The Truth.” It was the one with Oliver holding a gun and basically taking Marissa hostage, and I remember thinking, “Dude, what?! How do I watch this show?”
It may have even aired during American Idol. 😂 I honestly don’t remember how I got invested or caught up on the series after that, but I do remember watching the rest of it live on Fox every week, and I was hooked.
This was also my first introduction to the world of online forums, which… yeah, I probably should not have been on at 13.
I came across this one recently while searching them up on Google and I think it’s bloody brilliant. Something about it reminds me of the old Star Wars posters. I’d love to buy a print and put it on my wall. What are your favourites? Do you have more than one? I do, but I can’t share them because then that doesn’t leave room for you to post. But I’m genuinely blown away by the acting in this scene. Is she even acting?! It feels so natural that I genuinely forgot I was watching a TV show. I feel like I’m listening in on a conversation with a friend. Ella Rubin is going places.
I watch Ginny & Georgia for its emotional realism too, but this is a different kind of realism. It captures the awkwardness, insecurity, and constant self-questioning of being a teen and being with someone in a way that feels incredibly intimate. The scene is so understated, but it hits hard.
Also, I still haven’t watched the whole show yet, which is honestly ridiculous because now I need to start it tonight.

I remember as a teen always being such an Atwood girl and I always loved how protective he was over his loved ones especially Marissa. He probably was a bit too (over) reactive, but some of them deserved to get beat up or at least warned. Let’s start with the obvious; Oliver & Volchok. Honourable mention is Johnny. I wish Ryan decked him while he had the chance. He was such a skeez.

It’s been 84 years. When will people learn the difference? If ever?! Sigh. I love when people make edits that correct the error in people’s thinking because abusive relationships shouldn’t be romanticized even IF he’s played by the gorgeous Billy Zane and has money.

How have I been a fan of Leo since Titanic and still haven’t seen This Boy’s Life? That’s crazy to me. Anyways Tubi had it for free, so of course I had to check it out. It’s a good movie! Very underrated. Oh, and I can’t stand Dwight. Dude’s a straight up asshole but De Niro and Dicaprio played off each other so well. I’m so glad they left him in the end too! 😂 He was so dramatic! “WHAT ABOUT ME?!” Dude, no one cares about you. One more thing: Leo was 19 in this movie?! No way! You’re joking. He looked 12.
Seriously, the fact that this video even needs to be made is very telling of how society villainizes women. It’s like people can’t fully comprehend the story James Cameron was trying to portray on screen. Anyways I’m tired! When will it end? In 84 years? Never?
You know what’s genuinely insane? I love Crime shows and this will be my first time watching this one all the way through. How is that possible? I already watch a lot of real life True Crime shows like The FBI Files, Cold Case Files, Forensic Files and every other True Crime Influencer on YouTube. Is that what they’re called? I don’t even know. For example, That Chapter, Coffeehouse Crime, Dr. Insanity, Explore With Us etc. Anything worth noting? Without giving away spoilers what should I beware of? Yesterday I finally put on this movie. 19 years later! 19?! Can you believe it? I’ve failed as a cinephile. Anyways well damn! I completely understand the hype now and why Javier Bardem won the Academy award. His acting is bone chilling. That gas station scene with the coin toss is iconic! I love that nothing is explained to us as we watch the movie too. It makes it feel 100x more immersive. The mid 2000’s had some pretty great movies! Ngl.
I think a good portion of us have grew up on Jackass. I just noticed Amazon Prime has the MTV series up now on Paramount+ which is fantastic! So needless to say I’ve been watching it. I never get tired of their stupid antics. 😂 Has anyone seen the latest movie? I think it’s also their final one? I didn’t even know it was out already. I swear us millennials are a different breed of human with some of the stuff we grew up watching.
Had this gem back on my watch list and decided to finally watch it tonight. Ahhh, it’s so good! Crazy to think this was 22 years ago. So much has changed with our cell phones! It’s wild. I’m pretty sure this is where I first fell in love with Chris Evans too!
