Just starting the OC!

I’ve been putting off watching it forever but enough edits finally convinced me. What are some seasons/moments I should look most forward to? I’m excitedddd

Continuity error - Julie doing p0rn as a minor?

I know pointing out timeline inconsistencies in The OC is like shooting fish in a barrel, but I'm rewatching it currently and it has occurred to me that - given Julie married Jimmy aged 18 as that's when she had Marissa (as Kirsten says in S1) - that movie she made 'The Porn Identity' was child pornography and could never have been distributed. Sandy, my man, lawyer harder.

I cannot stand Oliver

This is my second time watching the show. The first time I watched, I stopped after season two. Trying to finish the series this time. I remember hating Oliver the first time around and I may hate him even more this time. I don’t remember what ends up happening with his storyline but I cannot wait for his time on the show to be over. I cannot stand this character.

Edit: I love Luke during these episodes! The way he calls out Oliver and intuitively picks up on Oliver’s BS and supports Ryan. Loving him during these episodes!

One of mischas recent movies

Came to me in my mind the news of Hayden pannetiere passing I saw mischa talking to fox about her passing. At the beggining of this year they made a movie together called sleepwalker it's Hayden's last movie she ever starred in💔 I hate to see the child stars like her who made everyone's childhood with their filmography only to suffer a lot in their own personal life rip Hayden 🩷

Two episodes away from finishing the series….

And I can’t bring myself to have it come to an end. I’ve never heard of The OC before, I actually found it on my own while trying to find an older TV show to watch. Everyone recommends The Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl, Friday night lights etc but The OC doesn’t compare to those. The soundtrack is so amazing and I have grown to love almost all the characters. I can’t fathom it coming to an end 😭😭💔

How your feelings change on rewatches

Currently rewatching the oc and it’s funny how your thoughts and feelings can change over time - I would love to know what’s changed for you? Here’s some of mine:

- Anna actually really isn’t that annoying of a character and I am now sad she didn’t stay on longer. I actually wouldn’t of minded the whole will Seth choose trope throughout the show and we see longer durations with each girl

- Luke, more in the sense of I didn’t realise how much until a rewatch that I wished he stayed on for longer than he did and the writers definitely under utilised him. I would of loved him and Anna to be off the core four and heck maybe them two could of dated

I’m only up to ep 20 season 1 so I may have more soon

Unpopular opinions about The O.C.?

What’s the most unpopular opinion you hold about the show?

For me, it’s probably that I liked Theresa (and preferred her to Marissa) 😅

This is my third rewatch, this time with my girlfriend, who will be seeing the series for the first time. I watched it back in 2004 during its original run in Mexico; then a second time nearly 20 years later, in 2022; and now, four years after that, here we are again.

Lately, we’ve both been feeling really nostalgic for the 2000s, and what better way to feed that than by watching this show? We watched four episodes in one sitting tonight, and I’m glad she got so hooked on it. I feel like re-watching something with someone who is seeing it for the first time offers a refreshing experience. It really is a fantastic pilot and a great start to the series overall. I’ll keep you posted with interesting updates as we watch. How many times have you all watched the show?

Marissa is sooooo naive!!!!

Will start with Luke! He had every right to be upset with Marissa! For instance, her leaving Luke to go see Ryan at the model home was not cool and poor gf etiquette! If anything she should have tried to make Luke be his friend! That’s the only way it would have made all her choices when it came to Ryan better to ok. And don’t even get me started on Oliver!!!!! 🤦‍♂️

The O.C.

I’m sorry, but The O.C. might just be worse than Gossip Girl 😭.

I genuinely hated that show, lol. I found most decisions & characters questionable. I hated the women, most of the storylines, & their parenting & friendship dynamics in GG. The O.C. isn’t too far behind. I honestly didn’t think I’d find another teen drama that would frustrate me this much, but here we are.

Maybe I’m judging it too early. I need to keep watching since I’m still early in the series (s1, ep27), but I doubt it. So far, it seems overrated. Is it just me?

Currently, I can’t stand Marissa, Luke, Julie, or Kirsten. 😭 Ryan’s brooding look is SO annoying to me. I understand that he’s supposed to be the quiet, mysterious type, but sometimes it feels like he has the exact same facial expression for every situation. Meanwhile, I love Seth. He’s probably the main reason I’m still watching this show. I like his personality.

And don’t even get me started on the Julie & Luke storyline. I absolutely hated it. That entire situation was so weird & uncomfortable, & I genuinely could’ve done without it.
Am I the only one who feels this way, or does The O.C. actually improve? Because currently, Gossip Girl might have some competition for the worst decisions in teen drama history!

Can we have a serious conversation about what a madman Dean Hess is??

rewatching S3 and it never dawned on me how much of a psychopath Dean Hess is. His sole purpose is to make Marissa’s life miserable all because she defended Ryan’s life. he gives no consideration to the fact that Ryan could have died but acts as if Marissa fired the gun out of anger or hate towards Trey.

he truly is a wicked man

First Time Watching The OC

So I'm watching The OC for the first time ever, and although I'm very much in the beginning (still on ep 3 of S1), I do have some thoughts on what's happening and the characters, so I'll share them with you all.

Idk why, but it's annoying me a bit how Seth and Sandy basically just want to adopt Ryan after literally meeting him for what, 5 days? I kinda understand, Seth doesn't have friends, and Sandy sees himself in Ryan and wants to help him. Maybe it's a bit selfish, isn't it? Like, is he helping him only because he reminds him of himself? Idk, sounds kinda narcissistic.

Also, I don't blame Kirsten for being cautious. Like, I would not want a stranger in my house after my husband took him out of jail, and just pretend they are one big happy family. She is the only normal person in that show.

But what is really bugging me is how, in every scene, Ryan just has a sad puppy face and makes people feel bad for him, and I'm like, yes, you have a fucked-up family, etc., but no one forces you to steal a car or to hit on someone else's girlfriend (even if Luke is a douchebag). Like, I'm sorry, idk, he's just so annoying. It's a bit hard to feel sad for him.

Also, why does Marissa's mom look like her stepmom? And what is the problem with Luke shaving his chest? Was the early 2000s so backward that this was a taboo?

Finally, Seth is a bit annoying as well, because he is super privileged, and Marissa was right, he does think he is better than everyone else. He also just says the most random things ever; is he doing this on purpose, just for people to be angry and upset?????????? Like, I don't really blame people for not liking him. But idk, maybe he is autistic or on the spectrum. I must also say that his obsession with Summer is weird, and he sounds creepy.

Also, I think the character I hate the most is Sandy. Like, idk if it's just that I don't like the character, but I find the actor so annoying. He reminds me of Laurel Lance's dad from Arrow and Rufus from GG, and god, they just think they're better than anyone else and act like a morally superior god.

Anyway, still very early in the show, so I'll probably change my view later on, but I just wanted to share my initial thoughts. I'm also a bit stressed, so maybe that's why everyone is annoying me lol, but the show is really nice.

I’m on season 2 and why does this keep happening

First of all, why do they keep trying to push Marissa and Ryan back together? This is so annoying. How many times do they keep having to break up and get back together? OMG, let it go. Not to mention, Marissa clearly isn’t good with relationships. What she did to the pool boy was annoying.
Seth's character is significantly worse this season. The way he treats Summer is toxic and annoying. There is no way he’s a fan favorite. Summer should’ve stayed with Zach. Seth is a man-child.
Who would’ve thought Ryan, the guy who punches everyone, would be the chillest and one of the best characters of the season? I love that.
The whole plot with the Cohen parents makes no sense to me. I know Kirsten had the cheating stuff in Season 1 with Marissa’s dad. Ever since she told the bagel lover they were back stronger and better than ever, I don't like it. This feels like character regression. Oh, and I forgot there was this red-headed lady from his workplace, but I thought they stopped with the cheating. Why have moments where the characters get development and stay consistently in love, only to have them cheat again? Idk, I’m upset because I love Sandy's character. He’s funny, and I’m mad I don’t like him right now.
Idc what anyone says, Marissa's hate towards her mother is valid. All her mom does is act immature.
