This is my third rewatch, this time with my girlfriend, who will be seeing the series for the first time. I watched it back in 2004 during its original run in Mexico; then a second time nearly 20 years later, in 2022; and now, four years after that, here we are again.

This is my third rewatch, this time with my girlfriend, who will be seeing the series for the first time. I watched it back in 2004 during its original run in Mexico; then a second time nearly 20 years later, in 2022; and now, four years after that, here we are again.

Lately, we’ve both been feeling really nostalgic for the 2000s, and what better way to feed that than by watching this show? We watched four episodes in one sitting tonight, and I’m glad she got so hooked on it. I feel like re-watching something with someone who is seeing it for the first time offers a refreshing experience. It really is a fantastic pilot and a great start to the series overall. I’ll keep you posted with interesting updates as we watch. How many times have you all watched the show?

When do you think U2 will come to an END? They mark their 50th anniversary this September, but like everything in the natural world, an endpoint is looming. This isn't a pessimistic post, but an existential one. When do you think it will happen, why, and how do you think you’ll feel?

One of my top 10 ambient tracks dwells like a nocturnal spirit at the end of "Hex" by Bark Psychosis—the album that catalyzed the post-rock ideology. "Pendulum Man" is ten minutes of pure, sinister atmospheric mystery.

Any fans?

Music video (late 90s - early 2000s) of two people tied to chairs doused in gasoline trying to run into the rain.

In the late 90s and early 2000s I remember seeing a music video on MTV or TELEHIT (a Mexican channel dedicated to music, at least in those years) where two people inside a warehouse at night (a man and a woman) are tied to a chair (each in a different one) and presumably doused in gasoline. While the song is playing, the two people try to move out of the place where it is raining; they do so by jumping up and down. I remember that the look or style of clothing of the two people was punk rock rave like the members of The Prodigy. As the two move in "light" slow motion, a fire behind them lights up and begins to move in their direction, in a line marked by the gasoline they are releasing from their bodies as they move desperately into the rain. As I recall the song was electronic and was called "Fireflower". I've searched everywhere for the name of that song and I can't find the video because there are literally hundreds of tracks with that title. It's been years and I still can't find the music video. It would be very helpful if you could provide me with some information about it.

For the fans who were there: what was your reaction to the release of "Pop" back in 97? I'm 35 so I only started experiencing releases with "All That You Can't Leave Behind"; I’d love to hear about your personal experiences—not just the general public's—and what it was like living through the rollou

Especially because of the project's distinctive sound, I’d like to know what people thought of the singles and the concept of the album as a whole.

I hate it when Damian does this: he releases a new project but lists it with an old date—or misses the date entirely. "Spring 2025" literally came out this year, yet he mentions on stream that it's from 2014, and you have to dig through the Sadness discography to find it lol

"Segundo Premio" portrays the period leading up to and during the creation of Los Planetas' iconic album "Una semana en el motor de un autobús". Filled with hypnotic dialogue and sequences, it is a dramatic ride following a band on the verge of collapse imploding within its most transcendental work

TRAILER

There aren't many shoegaze movies, but this is one of them. I genuinely suggest watching it and then going straight to the album (the English title of which translates to A Week in the Engine of a Bus). It was one of my favorite movies of 2024; I genuinely recommend it.

What do you think of the Spanish band Los Planetas? I find their first six albums—and "Una Semana en el Motor de un Autobús" in particular—essential to the Spanish-language indie scene. Noise pop, psychedelia, and shoegaze converge in this noisy project.

FACT Mag’s list of "The 30 best post-rock albums of all time" is turning 10. The article features some unconventional choices but places the transcendent "Hex" by Bark Psychosis at the top. A decade later, what do you think? Does it hold up?

Arguably the most iconic moment of "Rattle & Hum": Bono lifts one of the stage lights to illuminate The Edge in a theatrical play of shadows involving the audience. The image would go on to serve as the project's cover art and become one of the most memorable of the band's career.

I would also highlight the cryptic portrait of Adam appearing on Bono's back with an almost nefarious look. An incredible presentation, honestly.

"After All" from the album "Blender" (2000) playing in a scene from the movie "Crazy/Beautiful" (2001).

I’ve always loved the way this live performance of "The Answer" ends: Gordon sinking into Matt’s drum kit as if it were quicksand, while he and Kele play around with the cymbal. The crowd's energy comes through in every second. (Live at Paradiso, Amsterdam 2005).

FULL VIDEO

Even though the video quality isn't the best, the rarity of having a visual record of this song being performed live makes it all worthwhile.

This version of the "Walk On" video tugs at my heartstrings with a wave of nostalgia. There is something about those intimate shots of the band in that warehouse—Bono in his blue glasses and the multitude of characters finding themselves from within. It evokes a magical and mysterious feeling.

"Fear Is on Our Side", the debut album by I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness turned 20 in 2026. It is an atmospheric postcard conjuring elements of post-punk, goth, shoegaze and post-rock. A cult-status sonic haze that I highly recommend for late-night immersions. What do you think of this project?
