"The Wake are like if New Order got really really good. The Wake are kind of what New Order were trying to be and kind of fell short of it" - Jacob Graham, former guitarist of The Drums in the documentary "My Secret World: The Story Of Sarah Records". What do you think of this wild comment?

FULL DOCUMENTARY

The other day, I was watching this documentary about the iconic label Sarah Records, and halfway through, I came across a statement that struck me as amazing, coming as it did from someone who was part of The Drums. I’m sharing this not to stir up hate—whether toward The Wake, Jacob, or certainly not myself (haha)—but simply to archive it for this community, as I noticed it had never been shared here before (plus, the director, Lucy Dawkins, recently made it available for free on YouTube).

I don't know how popular this opinion is, but I genuinely think "🌈" is one of the best tracks the band has made in recent years. It has Sigur Rós-esque post-rock vibes, with an ambient second half that gradually fades out. A stunning piece that proves the creative power the band still possesses.

I know the final sample might come across as cheesy, but I feel it rounds out the track's entire concept. And my appreciation for this song isn't influenced by the "low bar" set by the band's recent albums; I genuinely think it’s very well crafted. I’d love for "AETERNA" to be the next track in the album because it would offer a much better contrast (than "iAAM")—plus, it’s my second favorite song on Moon Music.

Placebo decided to go full shoegaze on several tracks of "RE:CREATED," the new remix of their debut album, and it seems many have already noticed because it already has the label on the official AOTY.com page Have you given it a listen yet? Do you think the description is fair?

Personally, I think so. It's possibly the closest the band has come to making shoegaze, and in this case, it's very clear that the new production and mixing have given the tracks an unexpected body of pink noise. I'm sure it will have its detractors, but let's not forget that it's quite easy to go back to the original version. Personally, I appreciate this experiment.

Diles que no me maten - "Escrito en Agua" • New album from this ghostly Mexican post-rock band than blends jazz-rock, slowcore, krautrock, and dreampop.

FULL ALBUM

I'll try to be realistic when I say this, but I think this band is one of the most important in the underground scene in my country. I believe they're maintaining a unique consistency across their albums. In 2023, they released "Obrigaggi," a precious gem that felt like a dreamy sunset ritual. I consider it one of my favorite albums of that year. For this one, they've continued with their characteristic style of sowing seeds of post-rock to cultivate multiple layers of atmosphere. Like its predecessor, it sounds exactly like its cover. Seriously, give it a listen.

A few days ago, a very kind person posted a list of new trance artists here, and I delved into it and ended up finding this new album by Foley, "You'll Never." What a delight for those of us who miss the euphoric/nostalgic production of the late 90s this is it, seriously.

Oh yes, my favorite genre, albums with covers of an unreal sky beautifully tinged in an ether of gradient colors, full of shoegaze and neo-psychedelia that make me levitate towards the hypnotic retina

"Somnium" - Sianspheric

"Skies A Crossed Sky" - Bethany Curve

"Skying" - The Horrors

"Sunset Funeral" - Glare

One of my favorite shoegaze tracks of the year: "Remains" by 東京酒吐座 [Tokyo Shoegazer]. The closing song of the band's new album is an 8-minute epistolary monument to understanding why the genre refuses to be buried. A thrilling, ethereal, pink noise vortex to float towards the mesmerizing retina.

"Mi Catedral" the new album from Triángulo de Amor Bizarro, is a testament to how shoegaze metamorphoses with gothic and post-punk. If you haven't yet heard this Spanish band with over 20 years of history, this release is a great introduction. It's one of the best Spanish-language albums of 2026

This year, U2 released two EPs that fans have hailed as the band's best work in at least 15 years and have reignited enthusiasm and anticipation for their next album. Given the comparisons drawn with Coldplay, do you think Chris and company could pull off a similar move?

I hope you don't hate me for this post; my curiosity is genuine, since very few fans expected U2 to regain some of their prestige in 2026 with just two EPs. Perhaps Coldplay doesn't need "better reviews" from a segment of their fans who are still waiting for a return to the sound of their early work, but it strikes me as odd that, with the band approaching its 30th anniversary in 2027 and given the very poor reviews their latest albums have received, such a scenario could revitalize them. What do you think?

This video is kind of funny to me because of Medvedev's gestures when they announce the code violation. The sideways glance, the wrinkling of his nose and lips, the swallowing. He knew Djokovic's anger was coming.

Robin Guthrie has shared the first few seconds of the vinyl reissue of the soundtrack for "Mysterious Skin," which he composed with Harold Budd for Gregg Araki's film. The album announcement is imminent.

I'm so excited. This soundtrack means so much to me. I hope we get not only the vinyl version, but also a CD version. What do you think about this? I'm really crossing my fingers that "White Bird in a Blizzard" also gets this treatment because, although less popular, Harold and Robin also hit the mark emotionally with that soundtrack.
