Today was the day I got to the Pumpkins.
Going to see them in November!
Pics from an auction
Jut look at these title tracks?? What’s with the naming based on 17 yap
First time I've ever seen the watch shows the emotional wellness notification. I was working and listening to music. Was goosebumping hard when it's Mayonaise (almost always when it's Pumpkins' gems tbh).
Thought it was cool, so I shared.
Please don’t respond with, “Soon”. It’s been “soon” for the past 10 years.
Was listening to Palaye Royale’s cover of Bullet and noticed he sings “ol Job” as “ol job” as in ‘career’ ‘profession’
I guess it could work lyrically both ways but dang that took me out of the song. The original lyrics are so much smarter with its callout to Job who had everything taken away in the same way becoming big meant selling out your freedoms as an artist.
So I'm building the distortion from the MCIS rig (e.g. Jmp 1, alesis comp) and I'll probably be using my JCM 800 combo as a temp power amp for the time being. As you know, strategy 500's don't often bare their face much unless they're being sold for an absurd price or you know a fellow pumpkinhead. What makes this worse, is the fact this power amp has next to no sales history in my country, most mesa products are horrifically priced here. I did some digging a year or two ago, I believe the strategy 500 (as awesome as it is) has a tendency to die and overheat, so James swapped his out for a 2:ninety sometime during the mellon collie tour. He later went on to have his 500 modded with ventilation and some other bells and whistles, but would the 2:ninety be a suitable sub? To be honest, the 500 isn't the end all be all, but the deep mode is pretty important for a large chunk of the record and the 2:ninety HAS this fabled deep mode. I can't recall where, but I remember reading some people on a forum claiming the deep mode works differently and relates to the tri axis? I have bad brain frog, but could anyone running this rig or anyone familiar with it give some pointers?
Bought this ages ago but haven’t had a place to hang it in about as long! Finally decided this would be a fun place of honor for it.
I made a Billy duck. We have a Lady Gagoose on the front porch (just a cement goose in Pride regalia) and a friend gave us a duck…thing they found in their dad’s shed or something to be her friend. It just looked like a duck decoy. So the obvious thing to do was make it a Duck-Billy Corgan. Here it is for your viewing enjoyment.
Hey all— I recently picked up the current unofficial (bootleg) import vinyl version of Zeitgeist that a bunch of online sellers are listing. Posting this review for anyone considering the purchase.
I’m not generally someone who buys bootleg vinyl. I’d rather support the band directly and I’m not crazy about buying unofficial anything, honestly mostly out of self-interest as a consumer. A few things pushed me to make an exception here: no official vinyl release and no word of one coming anytime soon; I love this album (most divisive in the catalogue? and I’ve been Team Z since the first listen); and this particular boot looked great and was available from a seller I know and trust. So I took the plunge.
Very happy to have it in the collection — it did not disappoint. Pics included to show the gatefold, clear vinyl (super cool), labels, booklet, and posters. Felt like a treasure chest coming out of a boot.
Sound-wise, also solid. I’m running a budget setup, so those of you with better gear will probably pick up on things mine didn’t. But it sounds clean and reasonably loud, plays quiet, no surface noise, both records flat. Not audiophile-tier, but I’d put it on par with the other re-presses currently for sale at big box retailers— plenty good to enjoy loud.
Getting Superchrist on Side D is icing on the cake. Jimmy is out of this world and out of his mind (love you dad).
This boot is awesome, and I’m glad to have it as a placeholder until we get something official from the band. SP forever. Rock on 🤘🖤
Got this at a record trade show today 50$ sealed.
Can’t find info about any legitimate pressings of SD on white vinyl — seems this might be a bootleg?
Sounds good to me. But figuring it’s a bootleg at this price.
Any thoughts?
But hey, I got it on vinyl cheap the first time I’d ever seen it in the wild.
Honestly, I enjoy it for what it is, having not listened to it in a long time and it’s not the mess some people make it out to be.
It’s different, it’s short, the production can be odd but it’s not a bad listen.
This post is only the feature story. There is also a Machina lesson in this issue and the tab for The Everlasting Gaze. I will post those tomorrow.
