Silver Apples - Contact

Reissue but good enough for me… The album that was their demise and all too early… Guess you can’t depict yourself in a Pan Am cockpit and playing a banjo of crash wreckage on the rear without a lawsuit… just a shame because to me the Simeon was the beginning of electronic music.

Wings - At the Speed of Sound

Another one out of the family collection. This one is older than me… I did inherit two clean copies. Apparently both my mom and uncle decided they couldn’t share this one… This is his copy with the original hype sticker… His records generally never touched inferior styli while my mom’s did get played on some “questionable” equipment… you can tell but I still spin hers on the Miracord in the more forgiving setup since she has passed and I still do it for nostalgia’s sake. Happy Monday!

Afrika Bambaataa - Planet Rock The Album

This is definitely one of my favorite listens… even if I disagree with the outrageous design (I prefer just plain black) the actual sound and QC of this reissue is really good! Happy Wednesday folks!

Grand Funk Railroad - E Pluribus Funk

Michigan week continues with some Grand Funk! I love this pressing! It’s a little beaten up but so am I. Life has surface noise and is not perfect and neither is this record but just like me it has history. Still playable but noisy.

Stevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of Life

Michigan music week! Let’s hope this one spawns a little less back lash than the last post (not saying it was unwarranted)… But here is one of my faves from the great Stevie Wonder. Nice chill vibe to start out Thursday!

Asia - Self Titled

Welp I checked out and ended up just paying for it… funny enough story; this was the table it was played on upon that check out… my deceased best friend’s deceased father’s prized electronic possession. Gone is the old cart (tucked away) and present is a 2M Black that does a decent job on this one… The tinnyness of this pressing seems to like the shibata…

Considering an MDX Type-S help!

I currently own a 2021 Lexus RX350 AWD Luxury Package that I purchased new and have been pretty happy with it over the past 49,000 miles. My chief complaint has always been that it was a very vanilla anonymous car that did about everything well except provide driving excitement. I considered a BMW X5 at the time but the seats were like sitting on concrete blocks compared to the Lexus and there was no way to defeat the auto engine stop other that throwing it into sport every time and that was unacceptable. I sit in traffic driving from Lexington, KY to Cleveland, OH and other parts plenty and when the motor stops the AC gets hot and in the humidity belt that is annoying and unacceptable. I also considering a Mercedes ML E350 but that thing was a four cylinder dog and I just couldn't... It also pondered around the road and had 0 on center feel.

I never considered the Acura until now. I have always owned a car with at least some driving fun and it seems like in the land of Lexus they too have lost their minds with the new 4 cylinder lineup of the RX... Not to mention it is hideous to look at and seemingly smaller. I considered a Genesis G80 or G70 as well but I can't help but feel it's just a fancy Hyundai. The Acura seems not to suffer from being a fancy Honda and actually I love the thought of a 3L V6 twin scroll turbo and the fact I might be able to tune it later.

Who here has lived with one of these and what is it like?

Radiohead - OK Computer

So it’s no secret that my favorite Radiohead album is The Bends… However, that doesn’t stop me from owning and loving the catalog… It’s been a week from the pits with lots of travel and little record listening so I have chosen just to chill this morning and let Thom Yorke speak the words of truth. This pressing was actually much better than I expected it to be. Happy Thursday folks!

Faith No More - Who Cares A Lot Greatest Hits

Not a bad sounding record for what I paid for it… I do have the catalog as well but it’s Friday and this is packed with a bunch of cool songs… I mean I love Angel Dust and Album of the Year but this is a pretty good smattering of tunes across the catalog… it’s was like 15 bucks and it’s quiet and flat…

David Bowie - Bowie Legacy

I have basically the whole Bowie catalog and I listen to many of them frequently. This however is a very nicely mastered collection and it deserves a spin outside of the second room so I brought it down to have a listen while working this morning. Seemed like a good way to start this Thursday morning

Björk - Greatest Hits

I grabbed this from upstairs out of the secondary listening room. She has affinity for greatest hits albums and compilations where I suppose I am a completist and a greatest hits collection to me mean the entire discography… Lolz 😆

Either way I don’t have enough Björk in my life so this will do this morning. Lots of work to do and this album is mastered so well I can just get immersed.

Motörhead - Ace of Spades

Earmark pressing of this album because sometimes Lemmy! This was straight out of hot topic circa 2003 and still sounds amazing! Not an original pressing but a lot of the Hot Topic albums of the era were actually pretty high quality pieces…

Rush - Signals

Seems kind of drastic but jumping from the Deftones to Rush is just Monday for me. Enjoyed this album since its release day and here I am 44 years later enjoying it. This was one of the gifts that 7 year old me received with the Pioneer PL-7 it started its journey on… Sadly the table is no longer with me but the album is and is close friends with Technics giving it a ride.

Deftones - White Pony

One of my favorite Deftones albums… Yeah it has Passenger featuring Maynard on here and that tune dominated many playlists for me over the years… But it is such a great album. Thankfully this one is just good old regular black vinyl unlike many of the Tool releases… Sounds so good on my setup! Happy Monday folks!

Cat Stevens - Teaser and the Firecat

Straight out of 1971 and playing on a period correct turntable is this beautiful work in all its glory. Truly a remarkable album in every aspect. Feels good on a Friday!

Our Lady Peace - Clumsy

Sheesh out of town all last week and absolutely no spinning for me… This week will be different so I am going to some of my standbys… I just have always adored this album and I need some motivational music to dig me out of the hole created by last week.

Mofi studio silver

Wondered if anyone here has actually tried the mofi studio silver. Seems to be some sort of hybrid between the OC9xml and the cart I own above which is an AT PTG/33… my cart is getting quite a few hours on it and I have enjoyed it thoroughly! However, I can’t find much detail about the silver other than it has the coil impedance of the OC9, the compliance of the AT33 and is made by AT for mofi… most of the reviews just talk about relaxed sound and no real comparisons and a lament of audio metaphors… any help would be appreciated

Simon & Garfunkel - Bookends

Straight of out 1972 (this pressing) and released in 1968 this is one fine sounding S&G variant… I need this since I have been up working on an RFP since 5:30am and presented at 7am… so calming!

The Animals - The Best Of

Starting Monday with the animals on the Miracord… Seemed like the right thing to do try and find sanity in the insanity that is Monday morning. Let’s start it out like maniac Monday!

Mofi Studio Silver

Anyone have any experience with this cart? I currently use an AT33 PTG/2… it is getting about that time to replace it… I had of course been looking at the AT33xMLB but of course the upgrade bug hits every now and again… I have absolutely adored this cart more than any other I’d owned and honestly I hate Ortofons (even though I still own a 2M Black) so let’s not go there… but the mofi seems to be similar in design (ML on a boron cantilever) but with a higher coil impedance of 12 ohms… just wondering if anyone might have some knowledge about it… link to it here:
