Weight management

I have a one year old female fold, within the last month or so she has ballooned up. She weighs 13lbs now, and I am noticing a limp when she walks. I did take her to an emergency vet visit last week, I was convinced she had impacted stool, the vet said she is just fat, and maybe a little constipated. I’ve cut back her food, and I am adding a little water into her wet food, I also bought a water fountain dish to encourage more drinking. I feel like she is not as active as her sister (dsh rescue) and maybe this is why she is heavier? She loves to sit in her cat tree all day long, and flop for pets. She has her annual exam in 3 weeks and I want to bring up the limping again and possible getting her on meds or supplements. Had anyone else had issues with weight? I feel like I’m starving her, she gets a 1/4 cup of dry food (purina sensitive stomach) and then a spoonful of wet food 1-2x a day.

Fabric confusion

My daughter fell in love with this fabric and wants me to make her an outfit. I think I may know the answer but can I make this 100% cotton work with this pattern? Or is the complete lack of stretch a no go? What do you make with 100% cotton, is it just for quilting?

Newbie

My 7 yo is new to competitive dancing. This was her second year in comp and she did hip hop minis and jazz minis. She has been with this studio since she was 2 doing ballet and tap. She loves dancing and it’s the only extracurricular activity she does.

For next year she is really wanting to take on more. She was invited back to the Hip Hop and Jazz teams, and she is auditioning for the comp acro team. I also asked for advice from the studio and they highly recommended enrolling her back into ballet to get her skills down.

She’s also taking Musical Theatre over the summer and is loving it so much that she’s asked to continue in the fall.

I guess I’m wondering if 5 days of classes is too much for a 7/8 yo? The studio isn’t as intense as some of the others in the area and only do two comps a year and one convention. I don’t mind bringing her and money is not a problem, I just don’t want her to get burned out. Each comp class does a second routine for the end of year recital as well, so it would be 8 dances total.

Would you let your child take on this much if they genuinely loved it, or would you encourage them to scale back?
