This comparison proves that you can’t just blindly compare the amount of titles defenses

One of the most common arguments for deciding who the MMA GOAT is has always been the number of title defenses. But I think that argument is pretty outdated. Fighters from older eras often got title shots much earlier in their careers, which gave them more chances to rack up defenses.

You can’t just look at the number of defenses. You have to look at who they actually beat and the quality of those wins. Beating elite fighters should matter more than simply having a higher number of title defenses.

Between GSP and Islam (excluding Moicano who was a literal last minute replacement fight), the only title defense better than any of Islam’s is Matt Hughes.

Something that crossed my mind about Von’s final moments in the CCTV footage

I know this CCTV footage been talked about and analyzed a million times. But the realest shit Von ever did was holding on to Quando and not letting him snatch the big Oblock chain while on the verge of death. Speaking in chiraq terms that’s some legendary shit.

The belt belongs to no one

My favorite quote in UFC history is from Leon’s post fight interview when he KO’d Usman to finally become champ after a 12 fight win streak.

"There is no pound-for-pound. The belt belongs to nobody”

The belt truly belongs to no one as we get reminded again and again. There is no sport as unforgiving as MMA.

No one can stay in this sport for too long chasing glory without facing defeat. Khamzat lost, GSP lost, Islam lost, Ilia lost, Adesanya lost, even Jones lost (pick the DQ or Reyes Robbery as your loss). Yes even Khabib would’ve lost if he stayed in the sport.

Losing in a sport like Tennis just means your opponent landed the ball better on your side, losing in basketball just means they hit the net more than you, losing in football just means they kicked the ball better. Losing in MMA often means you got your face broken, limbs broken and spirit broken for everyone to see

Why don’t pro players max out their loadout?

I mean in the last round of the first half or the last round of the second half, for example. Why don’t they spend their money on a Deagle as a secondary weapon when they still have $4,000+ left over? I see this happen all the time.
