I can’t decide between Cordelia or Theodora
My husband and I decided we loved Clementine, Theodora and Cordelia the most, however Clementine is a bit longer and people like to shorten names and we don’t care for any of the nicknames for it so we decided to keep it for a middle name
Which brought us down to Cordelia or Theodora
Cordelia is Shakespearean, I personally have liked it since I was younger and watched buddy the vampire slayer it means “daughter of the sea” which I think is a cool meaning and it’s in the 900s in popularity so it’s not common
When it comes to nicknames for it the only one I love is Delia, the other nicknames are just ok Corrie, Cora or cordie you could also maybe get DiDi but I’m not a fan of DiDi and I think Cora lately is overused, and I know a lot of guys I don’t like named cory
Theodora I have considered since I first watched the haunting of hill house one of the characters has that name and is nicknames Theo. Which I don’t mind because there’s Bobby for Roberta, Billy for Wilhelmina and Georgie for Georgia or georgette to me it’s neutral
But there’s also Thora which I love reminds me of Thora birch, Thea which is pretty, Theo which I think is cool, Theda which is really vintage, Rory which is more unexpected but I do like the name, Dora which is in the bottom tier for me but still likable enough
The only nickname I don’t like much is Teddy
It’s funny because a couple people said Theo is too masculine and to go with Teddy but to be Teddy could equally be considered boyish the only Teddy I think of is Roosevelt lol and Teddy reminds me of not just a little boy but also a stuffed bear
So anyways both names are totally my style I think it may just end up coming down to nickname likability I’m a Samantha and I know from personal experience that telling people you prefer your full name people don’t listen same with my daughter Penelope from the get go I said she’s just Penelope or Nell or Nellie I didn’t mind and now 60% of the time people are calling her penny. I still call her Penelope though lol
Cordelia Clementine or Theodora Clementine it is
I don’t mind that they’re long names together middle names are seldom used in day to day life and often times something will ask for middle initial anyway
