Changing symptoms 2 months in

M36 - I have made a few posts in the community since my symptoms began - when it first started in Mid March of this year, my symptoms were defined by throat pain, thick mucus in the throat, very localized globus / the feeling of something small and almost sharp stuck under my tonsil/base of tongue.

I started the low acid diet strictly, avoided known trigger foods and made lifestyle adjustments as well as using gaviscon (not uk as I can’t get it) and Pepcid.

2 months on, the pain and severe mucus have been replaced with more subtle but equally annoying symptoms;

  1. my ears / Eustachian tubes have not felt normal in weeks. There’s a click with every swallow, my hearing in my left ear sounds muffled at times, I feel pressure and discomfort and get tinnitus several times a day.

  2. as soon as I eat or drink, my sinuses immediately feel congested.

  3. my sense of smell doesn’t feel as sharp as it used to, I find that I have to concentrate more on smells to perceive them.

  4. I have a slight urge to clear my throat after eating but I’m not coughing or throat clearing regularly at all.

  5. there is still a globus / throat tightness feeling although it doesn’t feel as intense and localized.

  6. after drinking in particular, I burp a few times and often get the ‘rising bubbling’ sensation in my esophagus / throat. It doesn’t taste bitter or acidic but I still feel like it’s a reflux event every time it happens.

Am I healing? Am I making progress? Anyone had similar or relatable symptoms approx. 2 months into treating LPR?

Allergies dented my progress

M36 with LPR symptoms since early March following a short illness - I was doing well, Globus sensation was almost not noticeable anymore unless I had a day of lots of talking. Boom.. allergy season hits, start taking reactine, using saline nasal rinse but unfortunately globus has come back.

My throat has been more irritated and itchy and my post nasal drip from the allergies seems to have agitated the healing in my throat. I’m still being pretty strict on low acid diet, 95% healing diet and 5% maintenance (occasional bit of Sauerkraut, Parmesan, Fuji apple, a dried date once in a while, whole eggs rarely)

Anyone else lose progress due to allergies?

M36 - LPR symptoms started noticeably around 2 months ago after a mild infection on the left side of my throat. I think I had it for several months before that in retrospect.

How long did it take for your globus sensation to go away? Most of my symptoms are gone or diminished, globus/throat tightness is the most constant and generally resumes or becomes noticeable within an hour of waking up. My left ear is still feeling pressure/wet but that also seems to be improving. I’m not coughing or throat clearing, the bitter taste in my throat is far less frequent and less intense when it does happen. No real pain in my throat, if anything periodic dryness that can feel sore.

Still taking the odd swig of gaviscon extra strength, after meals. Still dieting and sticking to lifestyle changes strictly (no carbonated drinks, no citrus, no fats aside from small amounts of Olive oil, no fried stuff, no coffee/tea, no alcohol, no weed, no eating within 4 hours of sleep, sleeping on a wedge. Generally eating very bland (oats/bananas/white rice/quinois/beans/zucchini/spinach/occasional whole wheat pasta/occasional baked white fish like pollock or cod) no garlic, no onion, no spice, Italian herbs only.

My seasonal allergies have kicked in so I’m taking reactine but no other meds. Haven’t taken PPIs and took famotidine for all of three days but I couldn’t poop on it so I stopped. I hate not pooping.

Anyway - I want this globus to go away and then I’m pretty much symptom free.
