Stuck using ash battlestaff

Recently got into the game and progressed to the fractured plains. Ive been wanting to stick with magic but I cant seem to find a staff upgrade besides the staff of light Im now able to make but dont have access to the materials. Is there another staff upgrade I should have by now or am I still stuck with the ash battlestaff for awhile?

Brethren vs blackbeard ships, which do you prefer?

Ive been using the brethren ketch since I got my ship and havent looked into blackbeard much since I figured more hp on the stsrting ship would be a good choice. Im about to go to the foothills ans start working on my brig but caught between brethren again or blackbeard for the speed and cannons. For the brig and the frig how much do the pros and cons of each feel noticeable? Does the dmg and speed of a blackbeard feel worth the hp and cargo loss brethren for these?

Is role-playing usually expected?

Hello, i recently saw a post about a paid dm and a part that got my attention was about a stereotype of 5e players that they dont role-play. Im pretty new to dnd (ngl baldurs gate 3 got me to wanna play) and ive been to 2 different tables to play so far. Both groups everyone was pretty into role-playing everything and im happy and love hearing people get into it like that but I noticed both groups I was kinda expected to do the same and tbh it makes me extremely uncomfortable to do so and ruins the enjoyment I have out of the game. I will clarify i have no issues pretending im having a conversation with an npc when or explaining what I do instead of something like "I go to the tavern" or something basic but its specifically role-playing combat that makes me not enjoy it. Everyone else has always given detailed explanations of what their spells do or how their spells killed the enemy but im my turns i just wanna say "I cast fireball" or whatever action I do. Im just curious on if thats generally expected to do for combat or if most people are fine if someone opts out of really role-playing?

Can I collecting unemployment if I was fired by hr?

So I was recently sick Monday and and had to call out due to vomiting and other symptoms and when I came back on my next shift my GM and a shift lead was talking about how I "called out cause I didnt wanna work with her". His reasoning was I always check the schedule when i show up for work... I always look at the schedule to see if someone comes in later into the shift cause a few times we have someone come in at 5pm and to see if anyone is working mids. I called them both out on it cause they do this every time im sick even with me bringing doctors notes. I found out from the overnight baker and someone else they have an hr case on me for doing so and im expecting it to end in termination since the GM hasn't liked me since I started. Im in the process of looking for another job before the HR meeting so i can just be done with that work environment but was worried of being fired before I had something lined up. Would I still be able to claim unemployment if they fire me after the meeting? I live in Tennessee if that affects anything.
