Welcome to this new Episode Thread, where we discuss in depth everything about one specific episode of Arcane.
This time we're rewatching the first part of episode 1 of season 2, from the funeral to the gardens scene.
This episode is so dense for Caitlyn that I chose to cut it in two threads. It would have been too hard to choose only 20 screencaps/gifs, the text would have been too long and too many important talking points would have been diluted. So instead you get a bonus thread next weak with the second half, the memorial and the attack.
List of Caitlyn scenes:
03:52 - Cassandra's funeral
05:37 - Attending the Council meeting that decides of the invasion
08:50 - Discussion with Tobias: I had the shot, the Kiramman key
10:42 - Discussion with Vi: crying in her arms, trying to recruit her as an enforcer
16:04 - Discussion with Jayce in the Gardens
Total runtime of Caitlyn scenes: 11m15s
(out of only 17 minutes!)
Breakup counter: 3
+ After giving an Enforcer badge to Vi
(#1 was the Bridge scene, #2 was the Oil & Water scene)

Let's talk about the funeral scene. The charcoal paintings, Vi and violet as the only color, "I Can't Hear It Now" by Freya Ridings, how she leans forward to get one last glimpse of her mother, how she never cries except when she launches into Vi's arms... It's time to get emotional!
Why do you think she feels the need to tell Tobias she had the shot? Does she feel guilty? Naive for putting too much faith in justice? What good is it to tell Tobias? Is it why she feels she doesn't deserve the Kiramman key? Why she daydreams of taking the shot, when she's in the Gardens?
By the way, what exactly is the Kiramman key?
Caitlyn launches herself in Vi's arms. Then she keeps touching her arms, grabbing her hand. This looks pretty intimate. Of course it's not the right time, but do you think their relationship has already tipped over into something openly romantic?
Was that an error to push the badge on Vi? Could she have done this more subtly, something similar but unofficial?
Let's talk about the Gardens. What does she mean by “needing an escape” when she visited it with her mother? Is it a private place, is it in their property, or is it a public garden?
“I just understand now, how easy it is to hate them. One vicious act.” - Even through her grief, she remains lucid about how prejudices form and work. Just like she already showed with Ekko or the Council. Do you think she loses sight of this later in this season, or intentionally pushes it aside?
“Then I see Vi...” - Why does she not finish this sentence, what was she about to say? The wind picks up when she talks about Jinx and calms down immediately with Vi. Is it just symbolism, or could she have some unknown Arcane ability (like Mel)? (or am I just being a bit too delusional with my headcanons?)

Why is there two Caitlyns, I have no idea 😄 Even Jayce looks confused. Anyway, enjoy a double dose of baby sprouts and silly hats.
I just love this vibe. It reminds me of the fic And I Owe It All To You by SunsetSharkbite.

Welcome to this new Episode Thread, where we discuss in depth everything about one specific episode of Arcane.
This time we're rewatching episode 9 of season 1, the season finale! For Caitlyn, it's the fateful tea party, ending with the death of Cassandra.
List of Caitlyn scenes:
27:05 - The tea party - only one scene but her longest this season
Total runtime of Caitlyn scenes: 10m01s
Total runtime of Caitlyn scenes in S1: 65m02s

Caitlyn had the shot but didn't take it. Why? Was it only for Vi? Was she capable of shooting down someone, even as dangerous as Jinx?
What kind of trauma do you think Caitlyn will keep from being kidnapped, tied and hurt by Jinx?
Do you think Caitlyn knows/suspects her mother to be in the Council room when the rocket hits?
What happens after? How does she discover it? Is Vi with her?

The next episode thread will be in two weeks (August 17th) and will be about episode 2x01, a huge episode that's almost all about Caitlyn.
This is also the last episode thread for S1. Please tell me if you want it to keep going for S2, if you would like to make some changes to this format or if you have any suggestion for the second half of this community rewatch and discussion.

Dexi strikes again! After doing Vi a couple days ago, here's the Caitlyn version
"She's Piltover's pastry perfectionist, the sugary sniper, the culinary cop, Confectioner Caitlyn! Your taste buds won't be able to escape from the long arm of bakery justice!"
So does this settle the debate over whether Caitlyn can cook?
Welcome to this new Episode Thread, where we discuss in depth everything about one specific episode of Arcane.
This time we're rewatching episode 8 of season 1. It features some of the most memorable scenes for Caitlyn: sneaking with Vi into her bedroom, the bed scene, the Oil & Water scene and the shower scene!! It's also one of 3 episodes whose title is a direct reference to Caitlyn or CaitVi, the others being 2x01 and 2x09
List of Caitlyn scenes:
03:06 - Vi getting Caitlyn to safety and realising Jinx has the hexgem
06:20 - Sneaking into Caitlyn's bedroom
07:05 - Asking her mother to speak to the Council while Tobias takes care of her
13:23 - The bed scene!!
(15:02 - Jinx hallucinating Vi and Caitlyn)
21:14 - Addressing the Council
23:34 - The Oil & Water scene
(29:19 - Vi telling Jayce how Caitlyn trusted him)
34:56 - The shower scene
Total runtime of Caitlyn scenes: 9m22s
Outfit counter: 7

Cupcake counter: 5
+ “Do yourself a favor, Cupcake. Go back to that big, shiny house of yours and just... forget me, okay?”

Caitlyn sneaking Vi in her bedroom and Cassandra's reaction: Is Cassandra used to Caitlyn sneaking girls in? Cassandra calls Vi “a stray” then “your... friend” and later nods her approval after the Council scene. Is she already warming up to Vi?
The bed scene is one of the most important in their early relationship. Let's talk about it! Caitlyn doesn't speak much, she rather nudges Vi by telling her it's not her fault, then listens and gently brushes her cheek 🥰 How can Vi not fall in love?? What happens after this? They spend the whole day together (it's morning and then the Council scene is in the evening), what did they do?
The oil and water scene, argh! they're just so dramatic!! Do you think Caitlyn should have run after Vi, go with her to look for Jinx, kiss her... anything else?
Do you regret that "Oil & Water" by PVRIS ended up not been used? Do you think it was meant for this scene or the shower scene?
Vi tells Jayce he's the first person Caitlyn looked for Topside, did they go to his place first, but didn't find him because he was sleeping with Mel?
Is Caitlyn disappointed to see Jayce changing since he's become Councillor? He has less time for her, he has the most aggressive stance of all councillors towards the Undercity, even consider weaponizing hextech.
The shower scene is pure yearning, poor Caitlyn is down so bad! Why is she replaying the scene in her head? Does she wish she could change something? Is she already missing Vi so much? Does she have a plan to get her back? And let's talk about the Oil Blood and Water symbolism!
Jinx draws a monkey face on Caitlyn's mirror, just like the one she draws on the building she sets on fire on Progress Day and both times Caitlyn sees it and reacts the same. Have you found any other parallels in this episode? I'm sure there's plenty that some of us have missed.

Welcome to this new Episode Thread, where we discuss in depth everything about one specific episode of Arcane.
This time we're rewatching episode 7 of season 1. After a very Caitlyn focused Act 2, she's not as prominent in this episode but there's still a handful of memorable, character defining scenes and quotes.
List of Caitlyn scenes:
00:59 - Arguing with Vi while tied up at the Firelights HQ
(09:40) - Jinx spiraling about Caitlyn - not a scene with Caitlyn but one about her and quite important for her arc with Jinx
18:35 - Ekko and Vi releasing Caitlyn
21:05 - Discussion with Ekko about the hextech gemstone
25:06 - Two short shots of Caitlyn, Vi and Ekko leaving the Firelights HQ
25:49 - The swarm of firelights
27:24 - The Bridge scene - 6 min, the longest scene so far for Caitlyn
35:47 - Quick shot of Caitlyn and Vi hearing the explosion of Jinx's grenade
Total runtime of Caitlyn scenes: 10m16s
Cupcake counter: 4

This is a very important episode for Caitlyn's arc, it defines her relationship with Jinx, Ekko and deepens her bond with Vi. Tell us what you think about it!
Does Jinx really hate her or is she just confused and jealous? Has Caitlyn truly gained Ekko's trust or even his respect?
What about Vi, she already tells Ekko they can trust Caitlyn, but do you agree with a common idea that it's in this episode that Vi truly falls in love?
What do you think of Caitlyn's surprised and flustered reaction when Ekko tells her about Vi trusting her?
After seeing the worst of the Undercity, now she sees the best. Tell us what you think about her memorable speech to Ekko, about stopping the cycle of violence and healing these twin cities.
She tells Ekko she has a friend on the council, Jayce. Why did she think only of him and not her mother?
Let's talk about the Bridge scene! The beautiful shot of the firelights swarming around them, their "goodbye hug" and Jinx spying them, Marcus' betrayal, Vi rushing back to her after the explosion, Jinx firing at them to separate them and the epic fight between Ekko and Jinx!
How do you think Caitlyn feels saying goodbye to Vi? Do you agree she looks like she has tears in her eyes? Does she think she will see Vi again or is it farewell?

The amazing Katie James has started one too and I can't wait for it !
This artist specializes in drawing fusion/mashup arts of Arcane characters with other characters/people. The first series was with Jinx, the second with Vi and the ongoing one is with Caitlyn. Check out the artist's page for more of these.
I really like this one, I think their respective styles blend really well together. Of course the tattoos become cupcakes! There's a bunch of other nice details like the typically Caitlyn frilly stuff, the Kiramman crest, but also the Jinx like purple eyes.
It's also been well discussed that there are many parallels and similarities between them (it would deserve its own post or even series of post) so I like the symbolism and irony of physically fusing them together.
How should we name her? Jinxlyn? Caitlynx?
Welcome to this new Episode Thread, where we discuss in depth everything about one specific episode of Arcane.
This time we're rewatching episode 6 of season 1. Another big episode for Caitlyn, part two of their Undercity adventures after saving Vi.

16:11 - Finding refuge in Vi's childhood home
19:44 - Gettting Shimmer medicine for Vi with Huck
25:57 - Healing Vi with the Shimmer potion and confronting Silco
29:42 - Running away and seeing Jinx's flare
34:28 - Reunion with Jinx and Firelights fight

Why do you think Caitlyn folds her handkerchief to hide the Kiramman crest before handing it to Vi?
Is Caitlyn naive for trusting Huck so easily and hugging him? Is she overly idealistic? Or just so desperate to save Vi?
She trades her rifle to get medecine for Vi. Do you think it has sentimental value for her or is it just another rifle?
What is going through her mind when she learns about Vi's past, her sister, her parents, killed by enforcers?
If the Firelights didn't interrupt, do you think they could have worked it out with Jinx?
