Transfer student research opportunities

Hi! Im an incoming junior to UCI and I wonder if its possible to land a undergraduate research position around my first or second quarter. I have previous research experience during the summer at another university and my major is Biology. Does gpa/cv matter? How do i go about finding opportunities? Thank you!
