P50 Pro Ultra not leaving mop pads in base station

From what I've read online, the vacuum should leave the mop pads in the dock if doing only a vacuuming task or a mop after vacuum task. In my case, however, they never get detached. I also cannot find the option in the settings to enable this feature. Any help will be appreciated!

P50 Pro Ultra completely dry

Recently bought a second-hand P50 Pro Ultra and I'm loving it, especially since I'm upgrading from a Roomba e5. However, I've run in to an issue of it not wanting to use any water.

I have tried pushing the water in with a syringe both through the base station and the robot itself. In the base station I filled water in until it came out the bottom (not sure where exactly, just noticed a wet floor). When filling in some water in the vacuum itself, it was the first time I heard water sloshing inside it when moving it. It even used the water for mopping, but once it ran out, it hasn't refilled since, so I'm thinking the base station is at fault. I also don't really notice the clear water tank draining while the pump is running.

What would be my next steps? I'm comfortable with opening the base station up and cleaning the insides, if it's worth it, just need some tips on any hidden screws, clips, or anything else. It being second hand means it doesn't have warranty either way, so what is there to lose? 😄
