Photo was shot by my friend’s grandfather on a Superior-Quetico trip in the ~late 1940’s (as far as we could tell, based on his apparent age in the photos).

I’m trying to figure out where this view is and what lakes are shown. Based on the topography, my gut instinct is mid-Gunflint Trail/Vento Unit, but the angle and lack of vegetation in the foreground makes me wonder if it was shot from a float plane or a fire tower.

Any guesses?
