Chimera: Lance of the Embraced

[The following lore is custom and not canon in the slightest. My ‘tism just knows no bounds]

The Technocracy is one of many characters, but none are as strange as Liam Steele and her lance, The Embrace. Their motto: “Show others the pleasure of embracing technology.” Prosthetics and cybernetics often have feeling sensors installed. However they tend to be uncanny, with the sense being just off to be noticeably false. Liam Steele is not one of those people. Instead of being perturbed by the false sensation, she loved it. The euphoria it brought her made some believe she may have been experiencing psychosis, but she was lucid and skilled enough to prove them wrong. She genuinely thought it felt that amazing. Rising up through the ranks, she eventually became a Rytsari and formed her lance. She recruited as any other would, but the volume of volunteers made it difficult to parse. Apparently she wasn't the only one who loved this sensation.

They are an effective force, but most other lances stay away from them due to their perverted nature. Some Voyi of other lances have even caught their Voyi and Besrovny moaning when they get shot or stabbed, specifically through areas with cybernetics laced through. Some lances have even stated they are a disgrace to the crusade and have tried to kill them. None have succeeded. Their level of cybernetic installation is above most others all for pleasure. Extra weapons. Increased strength. Doesn't matter. They just need more.

1st Reaction vs Manticor

I was selling my Manticor force to a friend of mine and we decided to play a game as well. It is also the first time either of us used Handlers. The terrain on display is mine. It is sadly unfinished, but im glad i got to used it. With Hindsight, we shouldn’t have pit terrain in the possible deployment zones, but mistakes happen. We played Catch and Release from the Conquest scenarios. This is how it went.

1st Reaction:
- Siege Handler
- Control Team
- Veterans
- Engineer Team + Crickets

Manticor
- Kheres Handler
- Infiltration Team
- Bratva Team
- Cyka Team

Round 1: I win initiative for deployment but Manticor wins initiative for the round and moves their infiltration team. I start to line up my shots and my Siege Handler has clear line of sight of his Kheres handler, obscured but not in full cover. 3 hits and 2 failed dice later and his Kheres was down (i know capture is better but I didn’t want to bet against Lethal). The rest was just movement, set up, and a Data attack pin on his Bratva.

Round 2: Manticor initiative. He hiked his Cyka onto the tower on the right. My Siege Handler, with a sniper rifle i guess, pops him and the Cyka team is down. I lost a veteran and both Crickets, but otherwise all is well. I used my AT engineer against a pair on the side, which didnt kill but did waste one if the SYY-1’s force rule.

Round 3: 1st Reaction initiative. Blood bath. My Control team and Veteran team both go down to 1 model each. My Engineers got wiped. I was able to pull it back a bit and get his Infiltration team, but its getting heated. He fumbled against my last vet and she takes out the HMG with a machete.

Round 4: Manticor initiative. He fumbles against my last vet again. She moves in with a machete and does work against a Bratva grunt. The Siege handler dealt with the other over there, but a Bratva was able to get my last Control team and that last Vet.

Round 5. Manticor initiative. Uses his last 2 grunts to try and fail to take my handler down. The Siege handler takes another kill. I win 10-9. Make way for the dozer!

It was really fun. I need to get better at terrain placement and i feel bad for killing my friends Handler so early, but it was great overall.

Alpha and Bravo Handlers Done

The Handlers of Alpha and Bravo are done. Each is a reference to a video game.

* Assault = Hunk (Resident Evil)
* Covert = Kuban Blisk (Titanfall)
* Siege = Bulldozer (Payday 2)
* Cyber = Haxxor Bunny (Honkai Impact 3rd)
* Melee = Valkyrie (Apex Legends)
* Marksman = Sniper (Team Fortress 2)

Intro Game for a Friend

Exactly what it says. I played a couple games with a friend who was interested. RFA (me) vs Manticor (them).

Game 1 Dockyard Assault:
- fun game. We were both learning our forces since it was my first game with RFA. It was really fun, but overall I kinda crushed him more than I wanted. The AMR specialist slaughtered. She wiped out a third of their force single handedly.

Game 2 Server Defence.
- this one was down to the wire. We swapped deployment zones and immediately started with my AMR hitting a trick shot then dying. Back and forth with casualties, with his numbers advantage getting a 2 point lead. I was able to get it down to the point we had one guy left each, but he was able to kill my last guy and got a 3 point lead at the end. First time I lost a BLKOUT game.

Overall really great time. He liked it and wants to start looking at kits (like the look of Boone)

Hey look, a Pilot. Now the Odds are in our favor (SRS Harlow)

Last of my SRS Harlow.

They are all based on Pilots from Titanfall 2. Vets are the grapple, Engineers are A-Wall. The Crickets i painted after the tick booster.

I actually finished most of them before my RAID Force Eclipse. When I got my box both crickets were the same sculpt. The sent me the other one and it arrived today, meaning it is officially finished.

RAID Force Eclipse Complete (Custom RFA Merc Group)

RAID Force Eclipse ready to go. A Merc group of UTGs for the sol purpose of treating them like people instead of assets.

Based them on Titanfall, like before, but this time with Apex Predators. The Assaulters are on Kane, the Specialists on Viper (both equipped with CARs with the specialists with the Softball and Kraber), and the Golems based on Spectre’s, specifically the mother ones in frontier defence, equipped with L-Stars.

2nd Set of Games. Harlow vs 3rd Battalion then Boone

Played my second set of games and boy did I even have more fun. My first force was Manticor so playing the fast speedy boys was amazing. I brought for both games a Control Team, Assault Team, and Veterans. My friend played one as 3rd Battalion and the second (the one I took photos of) was Boone, both of the core forces only.

Game 1: Harlow vs 3rd
I’m not gonna lie, it was a slaughter for him. We played Dockyard Assault and my speed gave me a lot of an advantage, that and some good rolls from me and bad positioning from him, still fun? But I only lost 2 of my control team.

Game 3: Harlow vs Boone
This one was so much more of a challenge. The mission was Zero Day and let me tell you, it was a tough fight, back and forth with casualties the entire time with the Razorback going MVP on his and the Veterans MVP on mine. I was able to win after killing one his VAT team and taking on of his PoI’s, giving me 3. So much more fun.

As for terrain, I found the orange blocks in a box on the store terrain shelf, with the barricades and brigades being mine. It was so much more fun and fair compared to my first set reusing my Trench Crusade stuff.

I think I’m in for good. BLKOUT has sunk its teeth in and it isn’t letting go.

Protocol 3: Protect the Handler. Trust me

Finished my duster based on our favorite giant robot, BT-7274 from Titanfall 2. God it was fun the entire way.

The gun was the worst execution because I tried to go off the XO16A2. It just had off colors that don’t fit well on a P90. But hey, i tried.

Oh yeah, the cricket. I got the Harlow expansion and both of my Crickets were the same sculpt. They told me they would send me a the other cricket which means I get to use my extra for basing. Painted it off the Ticks from the campaign.

Back by Popular Demand: Close Ups of Harlow Pilots

If people are curious the guns they have I tried to paint after the Flatline, Spitfire, R-201, and the Devotion

Standby for Dusterfall

My Harlow 1st reaction based on Titanfall pilots

The Assault team is based on the TF1 militia rifleman, control team based on the Sonar Pulse, and the Springbok on the Stim (the last 2 from TF2)

The Pack: Is It Worth It?

Howdy folks. I have been looking into going the long haul with this game and wanted to know the quality of the Pack exclusive models. There are a few of the kits I love and want to use as proxies for handlers. The big one I had a question on is the Abyul duster. I do t like the heavy duster model but this guy looks amazing. Reminds me of my main man Scorch from TF2. But I saw some photos next to minis and it seemed really small. Is it the same size as the other dusters? Are any of the models worth getting a subscription for a month?

u/runn1314 — 3 months ago

Finished theses guys up. For those who saw my “I played a hame and had fun” post, I finally got the weathering dust for them and can call them finished. Next up is gonna be Harlow themed around Titanfall pilots.

So me and my friend played our first few games earlier but neither of us really read through the rules thoroughly. So I’m doing so now before I go to bed lmao

I’m understanding a lot of it, including stuff I missed like Specialist not using the armory or saves countering damage and not shots. But the one I am still confused on is Explosives. In the rules it says shooting skill checks are called shots, and the explosive rule says to just use a skill check. However, it also says “make a number of armor saves equal to the success of the SHOOTING model.”

Are explosives going off of a shooting skill check (considering cover and all that) or a normal one?

Please it’s making me so lost.

Me and my friend are getting into BLKOUT. My friend’s dad gifted him the starter box and I bought Manticore. Although we love the world and models, this was our make or break. It was a make.

We played 2 games: Manticor vs UN 3rd (Dockyard Assault) and Manticor vs Boone (Server Defence). I won both but we both had a blast! Because of our lack of investment we didn’t really have a suitable board or terrain so we used my Trench Crusade stuff with some Kill Team barriers. I do feel the terrain had a big impact with my wins, but that’s just the learning curve with a new system. We don’t quite know how to make balance yet fun terrain set ups.

Howdy gang.

I plan on going into both Manticor and Harlow for my armies. I know they are polar opposites but I was curious, what Handler’s and other field units go well with them?

Howdy everyone. I’m getting into the game and plan to use Martian Ironcrust to base my models. I want to dry brush dust onto my model’s boots and legs like they do in the promo images and was wondering what paint you all would recommend. I prefer non-Warhammer paints, but if a Warhammer one is worth it I’ll bite.
