For those who have used the "Don't offer, don't refuse" method...

I just want to know how it works. My 14 month old son is currently latching on primarily for comfort, but he latches on A LOT. I counted one day and it was 19 times! I never offer. He just puts himself in position and looks at me lol. So, I can't understand how this particular method even leads to weaning. Please break it down to me like I am 5 years old. I would love to hear success stories so I can wrap my brain around it.

Nursing my son till he is 17?!?!

So I am only joking... partially lol. My son is such a boob bandit. He is 13 months old and still nurses every 2-3 hours all day and night. I would like to also mention that we EBF. I would like to start the weaning process but it just seems impossible. He depends so heavy on the boob for everything. Although, several times in the recent past, I have been able to go 5 hours in the day without nursing and no meltdowns occured.

So, if any of you have any advice on how to wean a baby that's like a little leech on thr boob, I was appreciate it dearly. Where did you start? Even if you have nothing to suggest, I would love to hear from other moms that might be in a similar situation. How are you doing? Are you ok? Who else has contemplated just letting them nurse till they go to college? Just to not deal with the meltdowns that are bound to happen?

Boob bandit mom's unite! Lol.
