Longines Hydroconquest 42 black on my 7.25” wrist

Interchangeable Bezels 🙏

Why don’t watch companies allow you to interchange the bezel/inserts? On my new 42mm Hydroconquest Black, it would be so nice to be able to adapt its look with a few different options. Of course it affects their bottom line to restrict certain color details to specific pieces…but man it would be epic.

Windows on the World and Time Well Spent

In college, I stumbled into an incredible opportunity to work at one of Southern California’s finest restaurants, tucked inside the St. Regis Hotel in Monarch Beach. I was 19 years old and knew almost nothing about wine. I couldn’t tell you the difference between Burgundy and Bordeaux, had never heard the word “terroir,” and certainly didn’t know what malolactic fermentation meant. Ironically, I wasn’t even old enough to taste the wine I was being asked to recommend to guests.

So I started learning.

Somewhere along the way, Kevin Zraly’s Windows on the World Complete Wine Course became a trusted companion. I studied it because I wanted to serve people well — to help a couple celebrating an anniversary find the right bottle, or friends lingering over dinner discover something memorable together. The book gave me a window into a world I knew very little about, and it did so with warmth, generosity, and clarity.

Years later, I still think about the name on the cover.
Windows on the World was the famed restaurant atop the World Trade Center. On September 11, 2001, so many lives connected to that place were lost — chefs, prep cooks, servers, dishwashers, managers, mothers, fathers, friends. Ordinary people showing up for another day’s work.

Every time I pull this book off the shelf, I’m reminded to pray for the families still carrying that grief. And I’m reminded too of the quiet dignity of passing knowledge along to others. Kevin Zraly may never know all the people he helped through this book, but his work continues to bear fruit decades later — in restaurants, around dinner tables, and in the lives of young people trying to learn how to serve others with excellence.

Any Bracelet / Strap variations?

Has anyone found a 21mm strap / bracelet variation for the HC42 that looks good? Please share an image and link below, I’d love to increase the flexibility of this wonderful watch. (wrist size: 7.25”)

To 42 or not to 42? (7.25”)

Just purchased this 42mm…Joining in with the thousands wondering if the 42mm HC or if the 39mm is the better move for my 7.25” wrist. What does’t thou think?
