Is weight a good indication of quality?
I'm buying a triple mini-split system and I ended up with two options: LG (MU3R19 based system) and Panasonic (CU-3Z52TBE). I prefer LG in almost every way, especially in the minimum cooling capacity (1.06 kW vs 1.9 kW for Panasonic), actually allowing some modulation of power with just one unit on.
However, what's worrying me is the weight difference between the two external units. LG weighs 45kg, while Panasonic is 71kg! For reference, similar Daikin and Mitsubishi E units weigh 56 kg.
SEER/EER values are almost identical, both units are "limited" versions of higher power 6+ kW units. What's the reason for such drastic differences in weight?
