Custom Doorbell Mount
Hey all! I'm mounting a UniFi G4 Doorbell Pro on the front of my house. The wall is rough natural stone, so a flat mount won't sit flush. I want to use a 3D printed mounting plate with a conforming back keyed to the stone and a flat front with the doorbell mounting features baked in. Looking for someone comfortable with mesh-to-solid workflows to handle creating an STL file with these features.
What I need (deliverable):
A print-ready STL of the finished plate. Conforming back, flat front, cable pass-through, and two pockets for M4x8mm brass heat-set inserts at the measured Ubiquiti backplate hole spacing. I don't have a printer myself so I'll likely send it to a print service.
What I'll provide:
- A scan of the stone mounting area via Polycam (OBJ, true-scale)
- Reference photo of the current install spot
- A marked-up image the doorbell mounting backplate with dimensions and screw-hole spacing
Requirements:
- Conforming back with a ~1.0-1.5 mm outward relief offset against the scan (beds in flexible sealant on install- a perfectly rigid match rocks on the high spots)
- At least ~13-15 mm of solid material behind the front face at each insert location. Overall thickness can be whatever is required
- Flat front, no wedge needed (the camera FOV is wide enough that aiming straight out from the wall is fine)
- 2× pockets for M4 brass heat-set inserts (~5.7 mm dia × ~9 mm deep) on the front face at the measured hole spacing in the mount plate
- Cable pass-through in the large rectangular cutout of the backplate
- Watertight, manifold STL, ideally printable in ASA as it's going on a sun-exposed stone wall with harsh UV in the summer and freezing temperatures in winter
- .blend or .step source alongside the STL would be appreciated for future tweaks
Budget: TBD, willing to accept quotes
Happy to answer questions on placement as we go. Thanks!
