I’d appreciate some advice from anyone who’s been in a similar situation.
I’m currently on a 482 visa. I worked for my previous employer for over 2 years, but they decided not to sponsor me for the 186 TRT pathway. I’ve recently joined a new company and my probation ends next month. They’ll then decide whether they’ll sponsor me. Hopefully they do, but with all the recent layoffs I’m trying to think ahead.
As a backup, my wife is currently doing a PhD on a student visa, so I’m wondering whether moving onto her visa as a dependent would be a reasonable fallback option if sponsorship doesn’t happen. We also have two young children currently on my 482 visa.
Has anyone been in a similar position? What backup options would you be considering, or is there something I’m not thinking about?
