Andrew Egger's column today and JVL's from last week are giving me some hopium!!!

JVL's Triad from May 14th: Dear Panicrats: You’re Going to Win

I was going to post about that at the time, but I got busy and forgot. I was really happy to read that because it confirmed what I had already been thinking. I had already thought that Democrats are overly worried about gerrymandering and they have a big opportunity to make trump and his entire party look bad. JVL explained it well.

Andrew's Morning Shots from today is great. It's nice to see Republicans grow a little bit of a spine, even though it's not nearly enough. I hate the slush fund as much as anyone here, and seeing Republicans actually speak out against it is a good sign.

The hopium feels good... although in this administration, you can always count on things getting worse! So I know this hopeful feeling won't last long. 😅

Judge dismisses charges against Kilmar Abrego Garcia, saying Todd Blanche spurred a 'tainted investigation'

This is incredible!!! I am so happy right now. I had been trying to follow Kilmar's case for a while, but eventually, I forgot about him. But I had hoped the charges against him would be dismissed. This is amazing news.

Brainstorm: What should we call trump's $1.776 billion slush fund?

As JVL said, there needs to be a catchy, recognizable name for the slush fund that sticks in people's heads. It needs to be something ordinary Americans who don't follow news super closely can easily remember. I want all the name ideas!!

‘Irresponsible’: backlash as Utah approves datacenter twice the size of Manhattan | Facility would require more power than entire state uses and suck up vast amount of water in drought-stricken area

I never use AI for anything. I absolutely can't stand it, and there are several reasons why. The environmental impact is definitely a reason:

>The Stratos artificial intelligence datacenter footprint will cover more than 40,000 acres (62 sq miles) over three sites in Box Elder county in north-western Utah. The facility will require about 9GW of power, which is more than the entire state of Utah currently consumes, and suck up a significant amount of water in an area that has been hit by severe drought in recent years.

>...

>Stratos is expected to raise the state’s planet-heating pollution by about 50% by consuming a huge amount of energy and water to power and cool itself, according to one impact analysis.

>The network of industrial-scale fans needed to cool the datacenter’s hot pipes will result in so much waste heat that it could raise daytime temperatures in the surrounding Hansel valley by 2F to 5F (1.1C to 2.7C) and night-time temperatures by 8F to 12F (4.4C to 6.6C), according to an analysis by Rob Davies, a physics professor at Utah State University.

Kevin O'Leary is behind this project and he's totally fine with it and thinks everything is going to be okay.

>O’Leary said the extra electricity demand won’t raise residents’ energy bills as new gas-fired generation will power the facility. “We are building power from scratch, from the pipeline,” he said. “We are going to burn it with turbines, clean,” he added, although gas is a fossil fuel that is dangerously overheating the world and isn’t clean.

Brynn Tannehill: Let’s Re-Do the Math on Ukraine | The deadly arithmetic of Russian casualties may add up to Putin’s defeat.

I love all the positive articles I've been seeing lately about Ukraine! (from The Bulwark and other sources) Ukraine is gaining momentum and russia is losing it. I know the Iran War and other topics are in the news right now, but don't forget about Ukraine. 💙💛

Hegseth calls for Sen. Mark Kelly to be investigated by Pentagon for second time | CNN Politics

Go ahead. Keep raising his profile. 😊

He is one of my faves for 2028 and trump's administration keeps attacking him bc they see him as a threat!

Today he's being accused of revealing classified info... when he was just saying something hegseth had already said in a public hearing. 🙄🙄🙄

Thank you to Tim for making this video, because I always want to know the latest Iran war updates. It's so hard to understand what's going on in this war, so I need people to explain it to me.

I am absolutely EXHAUSTED. I am exhausted by trump's constant lies about the war (and everything else). He says the ceasefire is still in effect, but how is that possible when both sides are clearly fighting??? He says that the attack from Iran was defeated easily but why is this war still going on, then? He keeps saying we've defeated Iran and they have nothing left because they're so weak and we're so powerful. So then why is this dragging on?! You can't believe anything trump says. On the other hand, it's not like Iran is trustworthy either. I'm tired of not knowing what's going on in this war. I want it to end but I don't know when or how it will end.

This mother and child should never have been imprisoned. They posed no threat to anyone. Yet they were locked up for about two months!! (Meanwhile, trump has committed how many crimes??? and never went to jail...)
