Realized my employer put $2,500 into an HSA—what’s the best way to use it?

I just realized I have an HSA through my employer, and they put $2,500 into it. I honestly had no idea I even had this account until recently!

I’ve heard that HSAs can be used for things like hygiene products, including pads and tampons, but I’m not sure what qualifies or how to get the most benefit from the account.

For those of you who use an HSA, what are some of the best ways to use it? Are there any eligible expenses people commonly overlook? Also, is there anything I should know about saving the money in the HSA instead of spending it right away?

I’m completely new to HSAs, so I would appreciate any advice or tips!!

WIBTAH if I sold a bridal shower gift from my grandmother

I (23F) had my bridal shower a few weeks ago, and it was such a wonderful day. I am genuinely grateful for everyone who came to celebrate with me and for all of the thoughtful gifts I received.

One gift, however, has left me feeling conflicted. It was from my grandmother (my dad's mom), and while I appreciate that she gave me something, I honestly want to get rid of it.

For some background, my grandmother is a narcissist, and we've never had a close relationship. She has never really taken the time to get to know me or my interests. There's a lot more to the story over the past 23 years, but to keep things simple, I maintain very low contact with her for my dad's sake.

The gift she gave me was what appears to be a 30-year-old picture frame and matching photo album. They honestly look like they were pulled out of storage. They don't match my style, my home, or anything I've ever shown an interest in. I don't decorate with items like that, and I know I'll never use them.

WIBTAH if I donated them or sold them and used the money to buy something I would actually use?
