As part of our ongoing commitment to keeping our team informed, the announcement below will be shared publicly today, May 19. Anyone whose position is impacted has been notified individually. This is being shared with you so that you are informed before these details appear publicly.

FCPS Releases District-Level Position Reductions 

As part of its ongoing commitment to operational accountability and financial stabilization, Fayette County Public Schools is releasing a list of positions eliminated at the district level. This includes both hourly and salaried roles across various centralized support departments. 

The following district-level support positions will be eliminated through reductions. This step follows a review process that initially focused on holding and evaluating vacant district office roles during the 2025-26 fiscal year. This reduction includes 120 positions, consisting of 49 hourly and 71 salaried roles. Of the 71 salaried positions, 16 positions are administrators. 

We want to underscore that these reductions should not be interpreted as a judgment of the people in those roles or the work they are doing. We ask that our community demonstrate empathy for the affected staff members as they continue to navigate this challenging news. These colleagues have dedicated their time, energy, and talents to supporting our students. They are more than a job title; they are our neighbors, friends, and valued members of our community.

Every impacted individual was notified individually. Human resources is actively working with those with job rights or tenure to identify potential placements. All impacted staff are encouraged to apply for open positions of interest and for which they are qualified. Eligible individuals will be contacted through the district’s recall process as positions open.
