Headlights
Look, man. I've given up on expecting most of the basic things from drivers around here like turn signals, stopping at red lights, not blocking intersections, etc. But if it is raining turn on your headlights, people. NO ONE CAN SEE YOU.

Hey folks! I'm an employee at Third Street Stuff & Coffee and one of the people involved in the Third Street Staff Union (TSSU). Over the last two days, the staff was informed that Third Street Stuff will be transitioning ownership from Pat Gerhard to her son and daughter-in-law (who is currently a manager at Third Street), Dave and Lindsey Gerhard. They told us Third Street is closing June 1st for an unspecified amount of time, leaving the entire staff 10 days' notice of being laid off and countless community members no way of visiting their favorite unionized coffee shop. Why would this change in ownership warrant a closure and laying off their entire staff, who knows? We suspect it's to force the people who make up our union out under the guise of renovations and new ownership. We, the Third Street Staff Union, are going on strike starting this Saturday the 23rd until the prospective owners agree to keep Third Street open and bargain with us in good faith. We are asking community members to join us in a boycott of the business and picketing outside Third Street Stuff the next two Saturdays, the 23rd and 30th, from 11-1pm. Join us in demanding the new owners maintain the status quo by keeping the shop open and bargain in good faith by providing us the long overdue counterproposals we need to reach agreements about our working conditions. For more information or to donate to our emergency fund, visit us on instagram @thirdstreetstaff.
IMO there’s substantial groundwork to do for Dembo on his structured policy plans for affordable healthcare as rural healthcare has been gutted by the “Big Beautiful Bill”. His campaign so far seems lazy. He just screams DINO.
The proposal listed on the website talks about drug costs- nothing about hospitals ceasing to exist in the next 5-10 years and increasing medical costs.
There’s TONS of performative politics behavior displayed on his website that come in the form of buzzword claims, and typical moderate campaign promises. He needs to get people excited and have substantive plans on how he plans to “Root Out Corruption and Restore Integrity to Government”.
I’m uninspired and unimpressed.
Hello! I've always heard about Thursday Night live in downtown Lexington but have never been and have wanted to go to see what it is like!
Can you guys share your experiences with me?
I am a 26 year old woman and would be going by myself. Is that safe? Would I have a good time? I used to drink when going to social events but I am trying to learn how to socialize and have a good time while being sober. I've seen some food vendors online and wondering if the whole experience costs a lot?
How can we get Charles booker the support he needs to beat Andy Barr. Not here for people to say it’s not possible just ways and strategies we can get people out to vote.
* love all the thoughts so far.
** I think a simple and effective way would be to really distribute and present a massive amount of yard signs and bumper stickers
Just really wanna experience the best pizza around, any kind I’m not picky just want a bunch of places to try.
Anyone know where I can get one? Also, 80% of Kentuckians did not vote yesterday.
What do we have to do to make people give a shit for the general election?
The Lexington mayor's race is shaping up to be an existential contest for Lexington. Will we go down to real estate developers intent on tearing up the landscape with little attention to community services? Or will we strive for a careful balance of housing infill, neighborhood services, maintaining city property values? There is an old saying, "the horse farms are like Lexington's beach front". Let's not discard what we have been protecting for more than 50 years. Do not mistake the real estate developers' intentions. They are after short term profit with no care for long term livability and community services.
Lexington next on Phoebe Bridgers pop up tour???
$50 tickets at small venues and aren’t announced until the day off via posters around town. I feel like we have a pretty good chance, and the Burl seems to be open tomorrow night…. Posters in other towns go up at 10:00am the day of. If anyone sees posters or flyers up tomorrow morning or the next few days let us know so we can get in line!!
Barr over Cameron. Booker defeats McGrath. Alvarado wins the open KY-6 Republican nod. Dembo over Stevenson, Petrey, and Kloiber in a crowded Democratic field. Donworth squashes Palumbo in HD-76. Gorton and Carter set the mayoral stage for November.
What do you think the results say about what Fayette County voters are looking for? Any surprises among these or other races?
Is he the Amy McGrath of local politics?
All he did was say raping kids was unacceptable.
