How accurate is the OG/official guide questions?

Tried the B/B section and it was just ... so weird? Some of the discrete questions were genuinely high school level but then 1-2 of the passages were among the most difficult I've ever encountered. The logic for some of the answers also seems very simplistic/crude by AAMC standards. I haven't tried the SBs yet but are these OG questions representative?

Worth it to apply to UBC and UOttawa as OOP?

For UBC, my average is just under 92, but this past cycle I know several people that had an average between 90-92 that were rejected with a 4Q NAQ. Is it possible to get an interview when GPA is slightly below average? Is the NAQ like casper where a "low" vs "high" quartile is differentiated?

For UOttawa, I originally didn't plan on applying due to the extra layer of regional protection, but seeing as they removed casper, do we know what else they will be evaluating aside from GPA/ABS?

Anyone else find passage 16 from CARS qpack 1 to be an insane passage?

You know its bad when both the Jack Westin and AAMC explanations are almost as long as the passage itself lmfao

How to improve passage interpretation for P/S?

Just took the unscored FL and outperformed my expectations for every section other than P/S. For this section I've recently finished the behavioral cards on Anking and I've done all the UW questions but I was extremely surprised at the number of questions where I knew the terms well but had trouble placing it in context of the passage/scenarios. I'm still quite a few weeks away from testing so I won't be doing the SBs yet but can anyone recommend resources for P/S passages? Are the Jack Westin ones good for practice?

How representative is the CARS diagnostic?

https://preview.redd.it/vf0umedqcg9h1.png?width=1403&format=png&auto=webp&s=0c7a8aa582af874154cadbdff8bc1cf57fac8893

The AAMC logic definitely feels more consistent compared to third party but occasionally some answers still needed a leap in logic that I didn't expect. In the middle there were also a few passages where the reading made perfect sense and then I got to the questions and was like wtf is this even for the right passage.

I feel like my natural reading ability is OK but idk, I just wanted to get an idea if the diagnostic is easier/harder compared to CARS on the actual exam.

U of T courseload requirements?

On the website it's stated that "If you are applying for admission while registered in the third year of undergraduate studies, you should have at least three third-year or higher courses in your program."

Does this mean at least 3 courses per semester or for the whole academic year? I wasn't able to get a response from the admissions office so I thought I would check here.

How much harder are the 300 level biochem courses compared to biochem 200?

And how challenging is it to do more than one 300 level per semester (ex. 320+330 at the same time)?

How does the grading work for research courses like Biol 399/499

I'm in the process of reaching out to professors and I was originally under the impression that these classes were pass-fail as there's no formal exams. I found out that you are given a letter grade as usual, so I'm wondering if you are graded on the quality of your research results or something else? If anyone has taken these classes before I would really appreciate some insight!

Too early to start AAMC CARS?

If I'm testing August 20 would it be too early to start AAMC cars practice? I've gotten 127+ on every third party FL cars so far but still when I do daily passages my scores tend to fluctuate. Obviously I'm biased but the patterns in third party passages just seem so incoherent so I'm wondering if it would be better if I just started AAMC

Does anyone else find UW cars to be a lot easier than JW?

Jack Westin I'll usually get 0-2 wrong but occasionally I'll basically misinterpret the entire passage, whereas UW i rarely even get one wrong. To me UW seems a lot more "logical" while Jack Westin feels like high school reading comp where every question needs a bunch of mental gymnastics. Does anyone else feel this way?

Is UW or JW CARS better to do for daily practice if I'm testing in late August?

Or should I aim to do a mix of both so I'm not pigeon-holed into one kind of third party logic? Any insight would be appreciated!

I know for UBC its stated that P/F classes don't count toward the 90 credit requirement. Is there any other school where this is the case?
