Sadly another schedule post

Sadly another schedule post

Wanting to take an overload for personal reasons. So 6 courses. I've done it before. I found out that the load itself isn't that bad, it's just that if one of the courses feels like hell, the burnout hits like a truck.

But that's why I like taking it in winter. Can revive myself over the summer.

But yh. If anyone has taken these courses, how do you think they fit well together. I think I'm most concerned about the Acctg and Fin. From 201, I don't think Mark classes are that hard. And Bus is well bus. Buec is give or take. And B law is just heavy material which I don't mind

But all this is from limited knowledge and the junior version of these courses. So open to thoughts and/or prayers

Edit: I could also add. If anyone feels Tues and Thurs is too long a day. Fin is online and Bus is hybrid. So yh. Not waking up for fin and gonna be on the bus while doing Bus so I can get to Acctg

Where can I get the cute lanyard?

Guys I’ve been dying to get one of those cute uofa lanyards with all the fun illustrations on it, but all I can find in the bookstore/online is the boring lazer-lookin one or plain faculty one??? I’m not crazy I HAVE seen people have the cuter ones so does ANYONE know where I can get my hands on one? 🙏😓

U of A vs UBC Physiotherapy

Got into both but really stuck deciding between the two.

For context, would have to move away for both but U of A would be same province/driving distance from my hometown and I’m OOP for UBC.

Pros for UBC:
\- Vancouver matches my lifestyle (more hustle + bustle, heavy on active lifestyles + outdoor and food)
\- Incredible faculty connections and TAs are great
\- No electives means you get to touch every subject matter
\- Have heard good things about UBC grads
\- Would be nice to experience a different region for a short time
\- Multiple cohorts, can “switch” accommodations during placement
\- More placement opportunities
\- Guaranteed on-campus housing for first year

Cons for UBC:
\- More expensive cost of living/general Vancouver housing crisis
\- Further from home
\- It’s dark!
\- Might be harder to move home and find a job there if I decide to go back to Alberta

Pros for U of A:
\- Can visit home more often/closer to family
\- Cheaper cost of living
\- Has cool electives incl. sports/business/massage
\- Could possibly stay with different family for placements as I have more flexibility/family across the province

Cons for U of A:
\- Not the biggest fan of Edmonton as a city nor its climate.
\- Would have to bring my car (\~$800/month factoring in car payments, insurance and gas)
\- More expensive tuition
\- It’s Alberta

Would appreciate any advice before the deadline on Friday 🥲

Can’t enroll in any Engineering Classes except CHEM 103

incoming international engineering student for Fall 2026 here. I was only able to enroll in CHEM 103, but every other class like MATH 100, ENGG 130, and PHYS 130 keeps giving me this error:

“You are unable to enroll in this class at this time. Available seats are reserved and you do not meet the reserve capacity requirements.”

I already checked basically every MATH 100 section and they all say the same thing. What do I do 😭

Unpaid parking ticket

I got a parking ticket during the semester because I only paid for 2 hours and ended up being on campus for a bit longer that day. I haven’t paid it back and my license plate has never been registered at UofA, and the car/license plate is under my dad’s name, so they haven’t attached it to my student id. They have sent a few letters to my home as well addressing my dad requiring payment but I’ve just ignored them. I haven’t received one in a while now. Just curious as to whether they’re just gonna forget about it essentially or if they’re gonna keep asking me to pay it back or send it to collections or something idk lmao.

How high in demand r lister suites? I’m a first year and I applied for a lister single not knowing I have to share a bathroom and a space has been offered for me but I kinda want to cancel it for a suite instead

I’m sorry but I refuse to share a bathroom especially when I shit so much. Do I cancel my application for a suite??? How long till they get back to me?? I don’t want to lose a spot for a single in lister just to get rejected for a suite

restructuring of first year engg

I’m just genuinely curious but I’ve noticed first year engineering changing significantly compared to when I was a first year. Correct me if I am wrong but there are no more math 100/101 written assignments? and for overall gpa students get to have their lowest class grade dropped? Does anyone know why they have started this implementation? My guess for the assignments is because of AI. In 2022 we would have only 2 days to complete those phys 130/en ph 141 labs but now you get 1 week. This makes me wonder if the future of class assignments will diminish and only hold “lab quizzes”.

What do single rooms in Lister look like

This is rlly dumb but i literally cannot find anything about the single rooms in lister (specifically good images of them) anywhere. I got an offer for one and i'm just trying to imagine what it would look like so i can plan and all I can find is stuff about suites and doubles 😭

Engineering transfer

I am currently in highschool in BC and got accepted into engineering at UBC in Vancouver for next year, but I am considering transferring for my second year to the uofa. Would it be worth it to transfer or stay at ubc? The reason I am considering it is because I believe the coop will be better at the uofa.

I might not qualify for second year engineering, is there anything I can do?

I just completed my first year and I did really well my first semester (3.3), however I unfortunately did really bad my second semester as I had lost motivation to do anything. At first I thought I would be fine as my overall gpa was still above a 2. It wasn't the best outcome but it wasn't the end of the world as I could just retake a couple classes and maybe have to add an extra semester onto my degree. I looked into spring courses however none of the courses I failed were offered over the spring so I decided I could just retake them over the fall/winter semester. However I just realized that there is also a minimum number of credits required (30 for Y1Q1 and 28 for Y2Q2) and I only have 26 and its way too late for spring classes now. Is there anything I can do since I am at least above the minimum gpa requirement? I'm planning on calling the drop in academic advising tomorrow but I can't stop thinking about the worst case scenario so I figured I'd ask here as well in the meantime.

U-pass eligibility

Hi everyone. I am a full time student at the u of a, but I am not taking any classes this spring/summer. Can students who are not taking any classes still buy the u-pass in some other way? Thanks!

Has Suncor sent out acceptance/rejection for the Fall Accounting/Finance internship yet?

I know a few other positions have gotten their decisions already, has anyone who did the interview for this role (not the hirevue) heard back?
