hi, I (vegan, F54, travelling solo) am going to Amsterdam for 5 days/4 nights in September. I've got lots of recommendations of places to eat, but more are always welcome. I'm mainly asking where would be the best area of the city to look for a hotel in? Are the vegan places concentrated in particular areas? I'm looking for somewhere quiet but with cafes and nice to walk around. Not into nightlife, I'll probably be spending my days wandering around and going to galleries and museums, and early to bed!

I did go once 30 years ago with friends but we didn't see a lot of culture that time...now I want to go to museums, galleries, wander about, just generally explore. I'm vegan and have some good recommendations of where to eat but more are always welcome. I'm mainly asking for advice on which area of the city to look for a hotel in? I'm happy to try out public transport or to walk fair distances. I'd like somewhere it's nice to wander around, cafes, vegan-friendly. I'm not into partying or nightlife. Any ideas welcome, thanks!
