House of Chains Chapter 3 partial review

I haven't finished reading this but wow! So we finally get the details for the ship we see in DG. When I read the descriptions of the dories and black ships, I felt we might get some connecting lore. Little did I know! >!Warleader here destroying Tiste Edur left right and center!<.

This brings me to the question, I seem to have forgotten parts of the details from DG. >!It was Heboric and the poor mage whose name I forget who find the ship after the destruction caused by Karsa. And the Seven being chased by their kin makes me wonder if these kin are the T'lan Imass we see in one of the earlier books, one of which sacrifices themselves to seal the rent in the warren?!<

This is beautiful. I didn't know HoC was going to get crazy this early into the book. >!I'm also getting a feeling that Karsa would eventually join the House of Chains. It would be interesting to see how he faces up to Kallor, if he joins up.!<

Also a side note, I love >!Torvald!<. What a friend he has been so far and what a rambler too.

Chapter 19 dream conversation

So let me get this straight, we see the Mhybe running in her dreams only to end up being in the same space as Toc the younger who is surrounded by a God he says, is that the wolf whose perspective we see very early on (i suspect fanderay or togg)? This was very confusing. Did the Matron adopt the Jaghut as her son? Also, it feels less like a dream and more like they're both in some sort of a warren. Does this dream conversation get elaborated further later? Do I just RAFO?

Nightchill (Previous title)

Wow. I just read the whole interaction between Nightchill and Paran and I think I know who Nightchill is now. She's the Sister of the Cold Night! And if Paran releases Draconus who else will he release!!! Talk about playing a long game. All because of Kallor. Damn.

I also doubt Rake would be happy to lose Dragnipur but I have a feeling it will happen by the end of this book. I hope Kallor stays alive longer into the series so he becomes an even bigger threat.

And finally, someone pulled Fener into the mortal world!! And Paran is supposed to replace him? Or was it supposed to refer to Trake who we know ascended. It would be interesting if it was meant to be a contrast to show the deaths of the Grey Swords and the rise of Gruntle. Also that subtle nod to Paran being able to view Felisin's crew in the cave with the holds. Nicely tied.

This ends the short assessment of my delight reading the MoI.

Edit: I missed the spoilerish rules regarding character names but I still want this post to be out in the ether so here I am with a renewed post title and hopefully not as spoilerish

Mask Council and their masks

So I reached the part where Keruli suggests he would like to claim the Rath 'K'rul title. And just before Karnadas enters, the mask council apparently to him have masks conveying caricatures of extreme displeasure. And even earlier in the book they are shown to wear different expressions on their mask. Is this just them having different masks to wear and therefore being able to convey different emotions using different masks? Or is it them using the same mask but with some sorcery to convey different emotions? I don't think it matters in the overall story how they do it but I find myself curious.
