3 month old - how to improve?
Hi everyone!
I’m FTM of a 3 month old boy and would love some tips on how to improve his sleep. I’m EBF at the moment and haven’t really done any specific schedule for him. A couple of things I’d like to cover:
- Started tracking his sleep 1 month in and he has never done more than avg 12h, with only very rare days that got to 14h max. He’s healthy and growing, but of course I’m worried that it is on the low end and that it might not be enough for him?
- I’m the main caregiver both day and night time, my partner although tries to help does work full time and does not wake up during the night so we cannot do shifts. I’m managing with the current night wakes but I do eventually get quite tired. I do try to feed him as much as I can during the day but given EBF I dont know exact amount / intake.
- Because of the current wakes, I think I’m the most tired from 6-8AM, but this is also the period where he’s most likely to wake up proper as theres less sleep pressure. How do you all manage? Preferably I’d like his daily wake up time to be 8AM and I can try to stick to that, but given how little and fragmented he sleeps, I’m not sure if a 8-8 schedule would work?
Oh additionally he sleeps easiest if I nurse him. Day naps tend to be contact naps with rare occasions that I could put him down, night sleep would be in his crib most of the time. Some other times I could rock and sing him to sleep but recently it got more difficult to do so. He uses white noise for night and sometimes day nap but not always needed.
I know theres probably some very obvious things but would appreciate genuine tips / what you found worked.
Thank you all!
