A year after my first car accident.. how did you deal with the physical/mental aftermath?

I (21F) got into my first car accident a little over a year ago. It wasn’t my fault, and honestly the guy who hit me (100% his fault) was SO nice afterward and cooperated and everything. I don’t hate him at all and I’ve never really blamed him as a person. I just hate that it happened.

I’m still dealing with the effects of it a year later, and I think that’s been harder for me mentally than I expected. There was a point where walking was difficult, I couldn’t go to the gym for a long time (which was especially hard since it was my stress reliever for years), and a lot of the things I normally did suddenly became so much harder because of the pain.

I’ve definitely made progress since then, and I’m really grateful for that. But there have also been setbacks, and mentally it’s been hard accepting how much one random event changed my life. Sometimes I think I’m mostly past it, and then the pain gets worse again and it brings back all of that frustration.

I guess I’m curious for anyone else who has been through a car accident with longer-term injuries/pain: how did you deal with the mental side of recovery? Did you ever stop thinking about what your life/body would be like if the accident had never happened?

I know I’ve come a long way. I just still have moments where I really wish it never happened.

And I'm sure a lot of you have stories like this, so I hope you're doing okay and if you'd like to share your story and vent it out on here, I would love to listen ❤️ Have a wonderful day everyone!

How cooked am I for this DPT application cycle? 😭

Hi! I’m a recent UC graduate applying with a 3.78 GPA and around 100 PT hours across outpatient and hospital/acute rehab settings. I also have significant disability-access advocacy, leadership, and supervisory experience.

I’m taking physiology and Chemistry II with labs this fall, with one final physics course (pt 3) planned for winter. I’m mainly considering public/cheaper programs in California, Washington, New York, North Carolina, and Illinois/Chicago.

Has anyone dealt with programs having strict or unclear prerequisite deadlines? Did you contact admissions or apply anyway and if so, what happened (like did you get in)?

Based on my profile, which public programs would you recommend for a balanced list and a decent chance of getting in this cycle?
