Living in Ulwe right now feels like I accidentally rented a flat inside a cement mixer. I clean my room and 20 minutes later the dust respawns like it’s a video game mechanic. Closed windows? Dust enters. Open windows? Dust enters with confidence. I genuinely think my broom has developed depression because it knows the fight is pointless. Stepping outside feels like volunteering to become a human samosa (chetak samosas are so good) fully coated before you even reach the station.
I’m a Mechanical Engineer with an M.Tech specialization in CAD/CAM and Robotics, looking to transition into remote software-adjacent engineering roles in Europe. I currently can’t relocate to the EU, so I’m mainly exploring remote opportunities where my engineering background could still be valuable.
I’m particularly interested in areas like robotics software, simulation engineering, CAE automation, industrial AI, and digital twin engineering rather than traditional web development.
How realistic are remote opportunities in these areas for someone with my background? Also, which skills or job titles would make the most sense for me to focus on?
I'm currently pursuing an M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering and have been considering a transition into Robotics. My exposure to robotics is limited to basic theoretical concepts like kinematics, and I don't have any hands-on robotics experience.
For those already working in the field, is it worth making the switch at this stage? How challenging is it to break into robotics from a mechanical background, and what does the career growth look like?
I'd appreciate any honest insights from people who have been through a similar journey.
do ME get wfh? I am a lazy bum and i was wondering if mechanical engineers get work from home? or are there any specific job profiles that provides you with this privilege lol.
I'm about to complete my post graduation in mechanical engineering with specialization in CAD/CAM and robotics. I can fairly use software like AutoCAD, Solidworks and ANSYS. My projects were based on biomechanical analysis of the human body but I have no job experience prior to this. So, I'm not sure what career path to follow. Any advice/help would be great. :-)
