Pigment Dispersion Syndrome

I have Pigment Dispersion Syndrome (PDS).

That blotchy, uneven colouring at the bottom of my iris is pigment that shed from the back of my iris and deposited unevenly.

PDS happens when the iris rubs against the lens, causing pigment granules to flake off and float around in the eye’s fluid. It then settles on the iris, cornea and drainage angle.

It gives my eyes a pretty cool look, but the granules can clog my eye’s drainage system, raise my intraocular pressure and lead to Pigmentary Glaucoma. I don’t have that, but I do have to get my IOP checked regularly and have laser procedures to keep it down. I do also take an IOP lowering medication daily.
