Dried prunes in honey syrup turned into this (?)
So for morning smoothies I like prunes to be soft and easy to blend so I put them in a homemade honey syrup. This time I had boiled the water, mixed with honey and added prunes. Left for vacation for two weeks with apartment at 81f (27c) and came back to this beautiful organism on top of the prune/syrup mixtures and flipped it on its back.
I suppose it's yeast? There are three gorgeous layers to this:
- The walnut looking part
- The granular clumps
- The beautiful black powder on top
Can someone explain what happened? Tempted to still eat the prunes but know it's a bad idea.
