I will clarify they’re certified GF however “natural flavoring” is listed so if that’s something you avoid, just a heads up.
I’m gonna preface this with I’m not celiac, so the repercussions aren’t nearly as bad for me, but it still makes me sad.
I’m GF because of an autoimmune disease and intolerance and stopped at a local sandwich shop on my home. The very fist thing I even said was “before I order, do you guys have gluten free bread?”
I was told they do and I was also told which of their other ingredients (pesto, some sauces) that have gluten in them. Perfect! I order my sandwich, make a meat change and the GF bread, things are good!
I get home and open her up, this thing looks amazing! So excited. Eat half and then my alarm bells start going, this is suspiciously good gluten free bread…..the crumb is amazing, the texture, all the things that I would expect to see from a wheat bread (and I’m a pastry chef, I’ve made a lot of bread, I know what I’m looking for). Look at the tag on the wrapper, it only has my meat change, nothing about it being GF.
Long story short, I called, and it’s regular bread 😫😭 like how do you not put the one thing that I specifically asked about and reiterated on the ticket? I’m super grumpy now. And I was supposed to go out with some friends later and I’m probably not gonna be able to do that now. Joy
