48-72 Hours break - i need some guidance on how to start after months of 24/7
tl;dr: 31m w/ ADHD. Succesfully switched from daily use to a 48-72h break routine last year, which brought back amazing, creative highs and cleared my brain fog. After losing a relative in January, i lapsed into 24/7 vaping to cope. I'm past the grief now, but. stuck in an impulsive daily cycle, that just leave me blunted, fogged and anxious about not hitting it. Want to get back to my 48-72h "golden rule" without quitting entirely, but struggle with the split-second impulses. Any tips on breaking the habit loop?
Hello,
I'm 31M, smoking since teenager, moderate smoker, adhd diagnosed since childhood. No alcohol nor nicotine.
How and how much: Vaping 0.15-0.45g of dryherb on 185/356 to 198/388 degrees.
During last autumn&winter i wanted to do kind of tests - to use the flower with atleast 48hr break and to do only one bowl at once instead of baking 1-3 bowls every evening. I was doing some reasearch online and AI about the cannabinoid receptors, tolerance etc.
tl;dr - it looks like the receptors need atleast those 48 hours to become responsive again and changing the habit from daily to 48-72 hrs breaks will lower the tolerance after time because the brain starts to upregulate them (the receptors)
Generally the results were astonishing. From blunt experience of "stoned evening normality" i had very vivid and creative highs that i enjoyed very much - i was basically planning them before, choose the music/game/trip to the forest. It also made the day after morning brainfog disappear. Shift was very easy because of the quality of effects.
On January i've suddenly lost a relative and it hit me very hard and took a lot nerves. I started to vape 24/7 (including wake and bake half of the weekdays) in order to blunt my feelings and anxiety.
I'm over the grief and loss.
Now i'm trying to go back to this golden 48-72hrs rule but it's very hard to change the habit this time. I don't really feel the high, it just blunts me out, i don't enjoy gaming/music etc. on it. Time and activity just passes by. I'm used to do bicycle trainings after small puffs - but it's also not so nice anymore, now i'm doing most of it clean.
Even today i already had a few moments (it's morning) when i was thinking about small bowl heatened at 180/356 degrees.
How do you cut down? Generally it's not like i'm planning "this evening for sure i'm not going to resist it". I will just vape under impulse and 5 minutes later tell myself "you wanted to plan it". It's like binge eating (which also came out this year, dunno if it's related more to stress or more to weed abusing).
I was trying to stick with lower temperatures but still - vaping it everyday won't make it enjoyable. It's just reducing the fog on the next day.
I don't even know what am i supposed to feel if i won't vape today, the thought by itself is already making me feel weird and anxious. On one hand i plan not to vape on the other i have a feeling that there will be an impulse that i will listen to.
What i feel is that if i won't vape then i will just wait for it irritated. I have mixed feelings about it.
Whats the goal?
For sure i don't want to stop it completely. I just like it but not in the way i'm using it now.
PS. For sure there will be advice to find/do a hobby, but i already have them and i'm working on them every week. Same with sport activity.
PS2. I'm also fighting with two new things in 2026 - corn and scrolling. Although i manage them more and more with every week. (site blocking extensions, discipline, mindfulnes.
